The dimwit from Delaware, trying to make people remember that he is probably going to run for President in 2008 too, and trying to make the democratic party not seem completely irrelevant is hinting that there might be a filibuster waiting in the wings for Judge Alito.
Why? Apparently Judge Alito disagreed with a lot of the Warren court. To me that's only another reason that he should be confirmed. Expect to hear the words extreme, and extremist a lot from idiots like Senator Biden, and their parrots in the media. They will probably try to paint him as a member of the Klan. But then someone would have to remind them that the democrats have always had a cozier relationship with the klan than the GOP has ever had.
But specifically Biden is upset that Judge Alito was against many of the reapportionment decicisons of the Warren court. Here is Biden's own words:
"If you thake what he said, it was pretty far on the far side of constitutional scholarship. The fact that he questioned abortion and the idea of quotas is one thing. The fact he questioned the idea of the legitimacy of reapportionement decisions of the Warren court is even well beyond that. So I think he's got a lot of explaining to do, and depending on how he does I think will determine whether or not he has a problem."
It's reapportionment decisions like Baker V. Carr that he has a problem with? Well I always suspected the democrats had nothing left, I think this proves it. When you're reaching for things like this it's a sign that your intellectual gas tank is on empty, but I guess in Bidens case it was never full.
I, for one, hope Alito gets confrmed. That will put us one judge closer to a court that actually knows the rule of law.
