Let's Not Forget, we're Winning This War
November 30, 2005 03:28 PM EST

The Democrats have been like whining children in the back seat during a lond road trip. Endlessly complaining and crying "are we there yet?" It's time for someone to stop the car and teach the brats a lesson.

First of all I would like to ask a question. What did they expect? The only quick bloodless wars are when the French are surrenduring to invaders, and if the democrats had their way we'd be trying to outdo them in running away. I seem to recall, after the 9-11 attacks, President Bush telling America that our fight against the terrorists would be a long one. That shows that President Bush has more military acumen than anyone in the democratic party. When you're fighting a fanatical enemy that believes paradise with 72 babes is their reward they tend to fight to death, and tend to fight for a long time.

So let's recap. In four years we have liberated two countries, 48 million people, democracy is beginning to take root in places where it had never been before. We toppled two bloodthirsty, fascist, regimes in two quick campaigns. We have reduced the Taliban to a memory and have the Baathists in jail and standing trial.

We have lost 2,000 men in Iraq and over 100 in Afghanistan. That's (roughly) 2,100 men in four years of fighting. Consider that in four years of fighting in the civil war 600,000 Americans died and during 4 years of world war 2 300,000 Americans perished. During less than two years of fighting in World War One we lost 100,000 men. During three years of fighting in Korea 38,000 Americans died. This is not to belittle the brave men and women who have died as heroes fighting the terrorists. It is to remind this country that the world is a dangerous place and it's often necessary to defend our country against those that want to destroy it, and cutting and running isn't an option, and men and women will die in our countries defense.

We could always surrender to our enemies, but would it be worth it? The price would be too high to constantly cave into every demand of every terrorist and madman. The French have a long record of this, and look where it has goten them.

We must fight. Because we can't negotiate, and more importantly because we are winning. We have, sadly, lost 2,100 soldiers, by the numbers I have seen we have killed 50,000 terrorists in Iraq and detained 83,000 during the last 4 years.

Afghanistan has had two peaceful and fair elections since the fall of the Taliban. Iraq has had two this year, and has a third scheduled for next month. Iraq will become a democracy we have already seen it spread to lebanon, and the beginning of freedom is starting in other nations. Syrians are demanding their freedoms. Jordan is expanding it's reforms and has declared war on terrorism. Kuwait has given the vote to women.

The terrorists have lost the support of the very people they count on. When we do win all the democrats will claim the war was their idea. But to the cut and run crowd, what would have been accomplished if we caved to the confederates in 1862? What if we had given up to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor? Or if we had given up to the Germans after Kasserine Pass, or we ran away after D-Day?

Calling for surrendur dishonors those that have died, and what they were fighting for. We can't give up when we are winning, and only an idiot would suggest it.
