Jews Angered Over Bill Clinton Comparing Mohammed Cartoon to Holocaust
February 07, 2006 12:31 AM EST

by Jim Kouri - More and more Jews are beginning to complain about remarks by President Bill Clinton, whom they believe sided with jihadists with his recent comments on the Mohammed cartoon controversy. They believe he's a hypocrite and has excused the violent response to a newspaper cartoon.

In the Charlotte Observer, one complaint voiced is that "in a confusion of moral equivalency, Clinton compared the cartoons to anti-Semitism and condemned them as "appalling."

"So now what are we going to do? ... Replace the anti-Semitic prejudice with anti-Islamic prejudice?" Clinton said.

Clinton went on to compare the cartoon to what Europeans did to the Jewish people over 50 years ago, as if there was a moral equivalency between poking fun at a religious icon and the murdering of 6 million Jews.

"No, what is appalling is that a Western leader who still wields enormous power would sacrifice an opportunity to explain big ideas and big principles to a part of the world that clearly doesn't understand them. Instead, he finessed the moment and caved to the kind of virtue that feels good in the present but that gets people killed in the future," says the Observer commentary.

A well-known Jewish talk host, Mark Levin, noted Clinton's comments during his show. He rhetorically asked why -- during his Administration -- Clinton was silent about "artwork" such as "Piss Christ" and the portrayal of the Blessed Virgin covered in excrement? Such works were displayed in American museums and upset many millions of Christians and Catholics. Yet Clinton remained silent, claims Levin.

He also wanted to know why Clinton didn't condemn the Washington Post cartoon that prompted the US Joint Chiefs of Staff to respond with a heated letter.
