"V for Vendetta" was reportedly inspired as a rebuke of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, one of the truly great leaders of our time. Set in London England in the not to distant future the hero in this anti-West propaganda piece is a man in a mask who uses terrorism to achieve his goals. The British Government in this movie, which just happens to be Conservative, secretly used biological weapons on the English people to win their support and entry into office. That is, the Conservatives blamed the biological attacks on terrorists and the people voted in the Conservatives to combat terrorism. Of course conservatives, being evil people, immediately begin killing homosexuals and outlawing books like the Quran.
V is the lead character in this movie, who was tortured in a secret prison by members of the Government, and he seeks vengeance for the wrong he has both seen and that was directed against him. His reign of terror culminates with blowing up Parliament and of course to reflect the purity of his heart he dies in the end. The producers of this movie lacked the courage to make the majority of this movie in London, especially after the bloody terrorist attacks that struck that city, so they made it in Berlin. Berlin, West Germany is where Hitler plotted the destruction of both London and the Jewish people.
I find it remarkably sad that Natalie Portman, an American Jew who starred in this movie, would go to the former heart of Nazi Germany to make a movie which culminated in the destruction of the British Parliament. Each day as she went to the set she no doubt passed former Nazi SS Officers and concentration camp workers, and by making her movie in Germany she helped improve its sagging economy, and indirectly helped those who worked for the destruction of the Jewish people.
Of course Natalie Portman, who has proven to be a gifted actress, is young and I would imagine naive, and for that reason she should be excused for lacking the maturity and the understanding of how a movie like this can make so many people angry and upset. America, which was bad mouthed throughout this movie as well as England, have both lost many lives at the hands of terrorists and we don't need a wide eyed naive little girl and a pack of producers and writers making a feel good movie about terrorism.
