Recently, I have been reminded of the late '40's and early '50's when I would spend many hours of my youth in the Dane Theatre in my hometown of Denmark, South Carolina. I would be one of the first to arrive for the Saturday double-feature of the films which would portray the heroic deeds of my favorite cowboys.
Things were pretty simple in those Western Films. There weren't too many gray areas -- just black and white. Just good and evil, as President George W. Bush presented his case for entering the conflict with Islamic Terrorism as he, as Commander-in-Chief led America's fight for Freedom, Liberty, and Democracy, first in Afghanistan where the Taliban was entrenched in power, and then on to Iraq in quest of Alquida and their ilk.
As I would await the parting of the big screen's curtains on those long ago Saturday afternoons, there would be a selection of popular music played for us who were early. The song that has remained in my mind's ear, so to speak, all these years is one with the title of "Don't Fence Me In!". It was a Western, or Cowboy song. It might have been a Roy Rogers song, I am not all that sure. But I am sure that it was a plea for the Freedom of the Range.
During the past very troubling months of keeping up with the invasion of America, by what is reported to be 11 million plus criminal law-breakers who are euphemistically called "un-documented aliens" by those who are too weak to face the realities of the problem; I have been greatly disappointed by the current administration and all those others who mistakenly believe that anything short of the "Right-thing" will correct the problem.
It is just short unbelievability for me to realize that the former Governor of Texas -- our current President George W. Bush -- is unable to grasp the monumental dangers which threaten America and her citizens by this flooding of so many non-citizen law breakers.
If this had been a plot in one of those Saturday Western matinees where things were seen as black and white problems; there is no doubt in my mind that the border between America and Mexico would have been fenced as quickly as possible. And until the fence was in place, there would have been stop-gap measures put in place to stem the flood of criminals.
And to be sure there would have been a gigantic round-up of the felons from South of the Border which would have been herded back across the Rio Grande, where they illegally came from. Mr. President: We are anxiously awaiting, not a cattle call, but a criminal call -- ROUND'EM UP - HEAD'EM OUT!
This is a simple problem and it has a simple solution.
Please, Mr. President, Fence America In!!! And fence the criminal aliens out! And send back those who are already illegally here.
Mr. President, you have done a wonderful job with America's economy, you are continuing to do a wonderful job with the War on Terrorism, and it is now way past the time that you take the reigns of "Ole Paint" and begin to cowboy up on the renegades from Mexico.
Saddle up, Mr. President, saddle up!!!
