Death of a Journalist
June 08, 2006 05:07 PM EST

Another (former) journalist dies in Iraq only this time the media is silent about the journalist's background and isn't rushing out to claim him as one of their own. However, that reluctance to identify this former journalist as a journalist did not stop Time Magazine from naming him one of the world’s most influential people in 2005.

He was born in Zarqa Jordan on October 30, 1966 and was twice married with 5 children. As a young journalist he reported on the withdraw of Soviet Forces from Afghanistan and like so many journalists today was less interested in reporting the news than creating it, and create it he did.

Abu Musab al Zarqawi was a former reporter "crowned" the "Prince of al Qaeda in Iraq" who demonstrated his flare of combining journalism with terrorism by ordering the murders of men, women and children in Iraq as well as elsewhere in the Middle East, to include his home country of Jordan. It is believed he beheaded Nicholas Berg and Eugene Armstrong, and did so on video tape knowing his friends or willing accomplices in the media would show every second of the screaming and every moments of hopelessness and despair. He knew they would do this as he understood what level of depravity that the media would sink to.

Thanks to our military and intelligence agencies a depraved serial killer has gone to hell, and it is not surprising that one of the worlds deadliest killers is not being acknowledged by the press as a former esteemed journalist, a keeper of the flame of truth, as they see it.
