By Sher Zieve – During Israeli bombing raids on terrorist Hezbollah in southern Lebanon Tuesday, a UN outpost was also bombed. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said that the bombing, which killed at least 2 UN soldiers, was intentional.
Annan said that he was “shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting”. Israel has said the bombing was unintentional.
The UN soldiers located close to the Israel-Lebanon border had been suspected, by some, of passing information to Hezbollah about Israeli military movements. The UN has also consistently refused to call Hezbollah a terrorist organization.
