Two Calif. Assemblymen Fight Gay Giant
August 16, 2006 02:29 PM EST
(JHR) Upset that lesbian Democratic State Senator Sheila Kuehl's bill, SB1437, has been gutted of its original language due to a massive opposition campaign being orchestrated by Christian activists from around California, the Assembly's gay and lesbian caucus manipulated an August 14, 2006 session, so that they could parade a number of homosexual "role models" inside of the assembly floor during an "LGBT Pride Recognition" ceremony. On a 40-25 party line vote, the Democratic majority suspended assembly rules and all other important legislative business to allow a gay activist spectacle which was intended to slap all Christian families in the face for their opposition to SB1437.
The Kuehl bill, SB1437, which has passed both houses of the state legislature, but faces a promised veto by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, would force all school text books, from kindergarten to high school, to be rewritten to include "positive" homosexual, lesbian and transsexual "role models". Additionally, the law would forbid any text book from ever mentioning anything negative about any homosexual or lesbian, even if that person committed heinous crimes like child molestation.
According to the Capitol Resource Institute (http://www.capitolresource.org/index.php), various homosexual activists were escorted onto the Assembly Floor while their so-called "achievements" were read aloud. The honorees included Yvette Flunder, a minister with the United Church of Christ, a denomination that has abandoned correct Biblical theology for one that preaches that God embraces the sin of homosexuality. Another honoree was Reichen Lehmkuhl, the winner of the CBS reality show "Amazing Race 4" and most recently known as the homosexual lover of Lance Bass, the former singer with N-Sync.
Appalled that the entire business of the people of California was suspended so that the state Democratic Party within the legislature could celebrate meaningless gay activism, Assembly Republican Leader George Plescia declared, "Ladies and Gentleman, I rise to point out the ridiculousness of the exercise. We're wasting a lot of time we have a lot of bills on the floor." A number of GOP Assemblymen then proceeded to storm out of the session, refusing to participate in the gay and lesbian party. Unfortunately, Plescia did stay behind for the ceremony, rather than joining his GOP brethren in their bold and courageous departure for the day.
In a move that is reminiscent of the great patriots who founded America, two Christian Republican State Assemblymen refused to bow to political correctness when faced with the Democratic Party deciding to parade the group of gay activists onto the Assembly Floor for their LGBT caucus gay pride ceremony. There are no two better examples of godliness and faithfulness to the families of California in the state government than Assemblyman Jay LaSuer of La Mesa and Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy of Monrovia. Homosexual Democratic Assemblyman Mark Leno of San Francisco, who was the author last year of the gay marriage bill, called LaSuer and Monrovia, and the other Republicans who walked out, "childish" for their stand against the gay ceremony.
Trembling with righteous indignation, Assemblyman LaSuer rose up, stared the gay caucus in the face and declared during the contentous vote on suspending the rules to allow the ceremony, "Why is immorality in America being honored, but not independence that our Founding Fathers died for?" LaSuer was referring to the fact that the Democratic majority in the Assembly refused to honor the Fourth of July last month on the Assembly Floor, but they were approving a celebration to parade gay activists inside of the Floor via a vote.
Just as bold as Jay LaSuer, was outspoken Christian Republican State Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy, whose father Dick Mountjoy is running for the United State Senate against liberal Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein. Mountjoy rose up and declared onto the Assembly Floor, "I find it puzzling that America's Servicemen were not honored on the Floor, but behavior in the bedrooms was celebrated!"
After SB1437 was amended to remove certain requirements on gay role model promotion, the bill still contains propaganda language which forces the promotion of homosexuality onto all children in California schools beginning in kindergarten via their textbooks. Only Assemblyman Jay LaSuer and Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy voted against the amended bill. All other Republican Assemblypersons that casts votes, voted yes for the propaganda bill. Republican State Assemblyman Mark Wyland, Assemblywoman Shirley Horton, Republican Leader George Plescia, Republican Assemblywoman Sharon Runner, Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia, Assemblywoman Audra Strickland, all from, or near the San Diego County and the Southern California area, joined the Democrats and gay caucus to pass the amendment to the bill (http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/sb_1401-1450/sb_1437_vote_20060807_0145PM_asm_floor.html).
It now awaits the governor's signature or veto. Unbelievably, Runner has been one of the main promoters of Jessica's Law, the initiative to protect children from child molesters. Unfortunately, she did not seem to have the same backbone as Assemblymen LaSuer and Mountjoy in protecting the children from sexualization in the classroom.
When history is recorded, it will surely read that Assemblyman Jay LaSuer and Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy did not win every battle that they fought in the Democratic-Controlled State Legislature when they were called for duty. It will say, however, that they always showed up with their boxing gloves on, the children of California on their mind, and they went down swinging for dear life everytime the alarm sounded.
The citizens of America owe a debt that cannot be easily repaid to Assemblyman Jay LaSuer and Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy. You can contact these great statesmen, and more importantly, these Christian men, who have lived out their faith, both in their private lives and in the public square. God give us more Jay LaSuers and Dennis Mountjoys and our enemies will have no chance.
