by Jim Kouri - TEL AVIV -- A Lebanese fighter who was with the Israeli sponsored militia in Lebanon has asked the Jewish state for asylum.
The former South Lebanon Army (SLA) veteran has officially asked Tel Aviv for asylum saying he fears for his life in Lebanon, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Ibrahim (an alias) arrived in Israel on August 24 with his wife and two children after he moved to the south. He, along with a dozen others made the short trip from Kafr Kila to Metula on the Israeli side of the border.
The family has since moved to the Mediterranean resort of Nahariya.
"On Thursday the 24th in the morning, 10 days after the ceasefire, I took the car and we crossed the border to demand political asylum," Ibrahim, who claimed to have spent more than a year in a Hezbollah prison, told AP.
"I suffered a lot, but I want to forget, I want to start again," he said.
