The War On Terror
November 19, 2006 01:00 PM EST

If the results of the 2006 General Election tell us anything, they tell us that Democrats have been successful in convincing a great many Americans that the War on Terror is merely a Republican invention and that fear of attack by Islamic fascists is greatly exaggerated.

So why did they do it? They certainly didn’t do it because they thought it would be helpful in winning the war against global terrorism. To the contrary, they have worked steadfastly to make victory far more difficult and far more uncertain. No, they did it for the cheapest of all reasons. They did it for short term political gain, at the risk of long term peril for our nation.

So who are these terrorists who’ve sworn to kill us, the people whom Democrats would have us believe are of only passing concern? French film maker, Pierre Rehov, producer of the explosive new film, Suicide Killers, describes radical Islam: He tells us they are generally young men, aged 15 to 25, impressionable idealists who’ve been fed religious dogma all their lives. And since they do not see good and evil as we do, they do not see themselves as criminals.

He tells us that Muslims believe that, ultimately, Islam will prevail over the entire Earth. They are convinced that Islam is the only true religion and that there is no room for compromise or interpretation. Moderate Muslims believe that they will not see the absolute victory of Islam in their lifetime. Islamic extremists, however, believe that Islamic rule over the entire world is an achievable goal for today.

Since Muslims value death much more than life, their value system works completely backwards from our own. Rehov tells of a Muslim mother saying, “Thank God, my son is dead.” Her son had become a shaheed, a martyr, which for her was a greater source of pride than if he’d become a doctor or an engineer. Their dream, their highest possible achievement, is to fulfill what they believe to be their destiny, namely to die in the service of Allah. They don't see the innocents who are killed by suicide bombers, they see only the “impure” that they are obliged to destroy.

Rehov warns that what we face is “a neurosis at the level of an entire civilization.” In the case

of young Muslim males, we are talking about kids who live their entire lives in pure frustration, with no opportunity to experience sex, love, tenderness, or even understanding from the opposite sex. The separation between men and women in Islam is absolute. So is contempt for women, who are totally dominated by men. This leads to what must be the most agonizingly painful domestic coexistence one could possibly imagine, a living hell for women in which emotional bonding is impossible.

This is the nature of the enemy we face; this is a culture which sees Christians and Jews as “impure” and not worthy of living.

This “holy war” did not begin on 9/11. It began with the downfall of the Shah of Iran during the Carter Administration. The Shah had close ties to the U.S. and he tended to accept the existence of Israel… all of which made him an inviting target for radical Islam. He was deposed, our embassy staff was taken hostage, and the Ayatollah Khoumeni came to power with all of the oil wealth of Iran at his disposal.

Now, nearly thirty years later, a regime in Teheran plans to require non-Muslims, Christians and Jews, to wear red and yellow badges on all of their outer clothing, reminiscent of Nazi Germany.

Their long-range strategy is clear. First, they must force the U.S. to withdraw from every nation

in the region, as we did from Vietnam and as Democrats would have us do in Iraq. Second, they expect to consolidate control of oil reserves in all of the Muslim world, more than 75% of the world’s known reserves. And finally, they intend to use nuclear, chemical, and/or biological WMDs, if not massive force of numbers, to push the Israelis into the sea.

This is the enemy we face. This is the enemy that Democrats insist can be “sweet-talked” into leaving us alone. But if they are proven wrong, and they most assuredly will be, we are in for a very rough time of it.

Clearly, conservatives and Republicans understand what is at stake and what is necessary for our survival. If liberals and Democrats understand these things, it is not clear. What is clear is that they are willing to gamble the lives of every man, woman, and child in America, and in all of Europe, for nothing more than the opportunity to hold the reins of power in Washington.
