The next Presidential election is just under two years away and already the media is spinning daily reports about potential candidates. Specifically, the obvious contest between two hard left wingers has captivated political commentators or as CBS calls them, newscasters. Those two in question are Senators Hillary Clinton of New York (D) and Barack Obama of Illinois (D).
While no one is really talking about the issues and whether one candidate will actually differ from the other in any meaningful way, people are ramping up to support whatever lefty wins out the primary. Ignoring the issues is commonplace and should be considered a pinnacle of the major media which seeks to represent someone through character and segregate that from their decisions. Other than sound bites Hardball is rarely interested.
Perhaps cliché is how the coverage can be best described. We citizens, of course, should not be so arrogant as to believe we are actually as intelligent as noble Katie Couric. Surely we cannot research our own decisions at the ballot box. Why, we haven’t the time nor the access to ask politicians questions and after all we are not graduated thinkers capable of seeing the facts as they lay.
With all this ridiculousness in mind, everyone should be aware that if either Hillary or Barack becomes the primary candidate the media will love the lefty candidate. That said, be prepared to be called a racist or a sexist if you actually intend to vote for someone else. Regardless of your reasons, it will be called racism and sexism solely because you are not voting for the minority.
After all, it is the responsibility of every intelligent individual to vote for a black man because he has been oppressed. It is our responsibility to vote for a woman because she has been abused, though arguably, with Hillary…. Enough said. Many regard these groups entirely incapable of getting anywhere in life without having a natural right to it and that natural right being the guilt of white men in the oppression and slavery of others even now.
It is not sexist to oppose the government imposed healthcare system Hillary Clinton is famous for pushing. It is not racist to desire to win in Iraq instead of tucking tail and running as Barack Obama urges. It is not sexist nor is it racist to believe that the wealth and poverty of others is not something to be solved by radical taxation of some and radical installation of dependency upon others as both candidates have supported.
Down through the list of insane stances these two have taken we find that other than extreme generalities about vague morality and the desire for continuation of employment opportunity but elect able they are not.
However, be prepared because such a stance will be declared bigoted and shallow. Laughably, racism is no longer the kidnapping and deportation and enslavement of tens of thousands of a different race. Racism has become a word or merely an idea implied by someone other than the declared bigot. Sexism is no longer the beating of women and the denial of vote rights. Sexism is now a glance or a mistaken comment.
Finally, if Obama or Clinton gets elected to the White House be further prepared to deal with endless reports of “the first black President,” or “the first female President.” Though the accomplishments of people should be celebrated, is it not a matter of bigotry to note that such people could get elected ‘despite the odds’? Perhaps as a society we are so caught up in proving history behind us that we elevate certain people to certain positions solely based upon their minority status. Notably, Barack Obama is not even a descendant of any slave. Yet, that shall be subtext if noted at all.
Ultimately, we are responsible for electing them if either makes it that far. We should be prepared to stand up and say that fair-mindedness judges the candidates without seeing their minority status. We must not stand up for a candidate because “it would be cool to have a black President.” We must not forgo our values to “keep up with European feminism.”
