Where is the Payoff For Republicans?
By David Roberts
Our country’s politicians have taken a firm stance in opposition to what more than 70% of their constituents have clearly desired, voted for, and demonstrated against. It simply doesn’t matter anymore which party is elected, the issue of illegal immigration gets swept under the rug, excused and continues to plague our nation. Why?
Politicians only remain in power as long as they continue to vote the way their supporters tell them to. But when it comes to immigration, an article written by Arias King, a former aide to former Mexican President Vicente Fox tells us that 90% of legislators favor ignoring the demands of the constituents that put them in power. The article is entitled, Immigration and Usurpation and can be found by Googling the author and title.
It seems to the average person, myself included, that regardless of the position of the people, that illegal immigration will continue unabated. Mr. King speculated that this unbridled support for illegal immigration may be of a temporary benefit to the politicians, to the detriment of the country in later years. Republicans’ votes are based on the desires of the big businesses that demand cheap labor. Democrats know that upwards of 80% of the pre-citizens will vote for the Democratic Party once their right to vote is given. But the Republicans know this too!
Granting citizenship to an additional 20 million Democratic voters will ensure the removal of our two party system and entrench the Leftists into a virtual juggernaut position of power. So, where is the payoff for Republicans?
King asks, “What could be motivating U.S. legislators to do the opposite, that is, to see their constituents, already politically mature and proven as responsible and civic minded as an obstacle needing replacement? In other words, why would they want to replace a nation that works remarkably well, with another that has trouble forming stable, normal countries?”
Good Question! No matter which party affiliation you may take upon yourself, you have to agree that our nation works much better than the corrupt and vile politicians of Latin America. Why are our politicians working towards a Latinization of our honorable country? Why are we not working to make Latin countries more like our own?
There has to be a payoff for those who know that what they are doing is going to harm them in the long run? Why would any politician work to do harm to his career, or to his party? King speculates that it is, at heart, an envy on the part of our politicians for the dominant power that the Latin leaders have over their people. But what power could the Republicans gain from kow-towing to this issue? All common sense says that the power will be lost to the Republicans on a very real, almost permanent basis.
So what do they gain from their support of illegal immigration? There HAS to be a payoff for these individuals or they would not take the consistent position diametrically opposed to the will of the people who put them in office.
King suggests that if the politics of the day continues as it has that more Americans who see the futility of trying to protect our border when our own government refuses to do so will then begin to take direct action. Civil disobedience may ensue to help restore our borders to a safe status.
Is that really what it’s going to take? Will we wait until every emergency room in every border state is shut down even to our own citizens because of the lack of paying patients? Will we wait until the Social Security program is entirely broke and our health care system is in a shambles and destitute? Will we wait until every job that is supposed to be ours is doled out to less than minimum wages illegals?
We can’t afford to. Thomas Jefferson believed that in order to keep our country a free democracy an occasional rebellion would be necessary as an entire class of elites seek not the best interests of their constituents, but a way to solidify their grasp on power. Until recently I had a great deal of trouble applying that kind of motivation to the RNC, but now I see it for what it is.
There is what Adam Smith, the great economist would call, ‘an invisible hand’. In applying to economics the invisible hand is the unseen force that leads to the betterment of a nation when people are allowed to seek their own good. But lately, even those who have described themselves as fiscal conservatives seek to increase government benefits to a population of people loyal not to our government but to theirs.
We seem to be sliding daily into turning our country into a replica of the Socialist nations of Europe, and not because those nations are good examples, but the leaders of those nations, like the Latin nations, are firmly entrenched in power.
So where is the payoff? What is the invisible hand pushing us toward this bleak destiny?
The truth is, I don’t know. All I know is that at this point, we have to stop it from occurring. We need to begin the Second American Revolution or barring that, secede from this corrupt Union to restore the intent of our Founding Fathers. For the sake of our children’s children, we must do something! We must set aside what differences we may have, conservative or liberal, and seek to defend our country against the corruption that is so prevalent in Washington and against a fate that will turn our county into just another fascist dictatorship.
