(Tues, Feb 13, 2007) Republican Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter (R-CA) received an internet boost today when the results of an internet poll were announced. The poll, administered by Rightwingnews.com, placed Hunter near the top in overall favorability, and near the bottom in un-favorability among conservative bloggers.
A total of 230 right-of-center bloggers were asked to rank their most and least favorable candidates. Hunter was second in over popularity with a net score of 32, outranked only by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich’s score of 38.5. Gingrich has yet to announce his intentions in the Presidential race.
According to Right Wing News spokesman John Hawkins, the results were based on the blogger’s choice as to the candidate they felt is genuinely conservative in belief and policy. Hunter has often been described as the true Reagan Republican. His views on a strong national defense; a double fence on the U.S. Mexican border with no amnesty for illegals; a fair trade police with foreign governments, and strong support for our armed forces places him at the top of the true conservative’s list.
Hunter was pleased with the results of the poll. “It indicates that the conservative bloggers that were polled view me as the candidate with a genuine conservative agenda,” said Hunter. “My experience as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and my 26-years in the House of Representatives gives me the experience needed to tackle the tough problems facing our country today. I look forward to serving America as their President,” added the California native.
