Commander Pelosi?
April 26, 2007 01:17 PM EST

The Democrat-controlled House passed their Iraq war funding bill this week and with it came the condition that we would begin to remove our troops from major combat roles by July 1st. Then, eventually, move them completely out of Iraq all together. This bill, as we know, will be vetoed and the Democrats do not have enough support to overturn this veto.

Do the Democrats really believe they are doing the right thing? Is trying to bring this country back to a pre-9/11 state a good idea? They have come out against everything President Bush and other republicans have suggested and even done to make us safer. They are against wire tapping, even though it had nothing to do with regular American citizens. They want to close Gitmo, even though none of them bothered to go there to see the place for themselves. And now they continue to demand a troop withdrawal or they will not give money to support our troops in the field. This is the worst one of all. Again, how can they say they are for our troops but against what they are doing? It’s an oxymoron, much like the Democratic Party. There’s nothing ‘democratic’ about them. They cannot debate, so they take matters into their own hands. They do not see that they are ruining our country with every bill they pass.

The problem with leaving Iraq too soon has already been established. Scholars from all over the country have agreed that it would be a disaster for the Iraqi people if we were to leave. I understand that bombs are going off and people are dying, but let me point out, the majority of those dying are Iraqis! They are the ones who are fighting for their freedom. They continue to have faith that the United States will help save them. If we were to leave, that faith disappears. So does the faith of every other nation in this world that would, in the future, rely on our help to save them from an evil enemy. Some would call us a ‘paper tiger’. I would call us unreliable. The rest of the world would as well. If the democrats think our international credibility is so hurt by President Bush’s actions, wait and see what happens if they succeed in removing our troops before their job is finished. No one will want our help even if we offer and more nations will fall prey to these Islamic fascists.

"Commander" Pelosi and her congressional soldiers need to leave this war in the hands of the REAL commanders in the field and the President to make the ultimate decisions. Congress should be concentrating on our own domestic security. They should figure out a way to prevent future incidents like the one at Virginia Tech rather than stick their noses in the international war on terror, for which they obviously have no knowledge of or experience in handling.
