The “culture of corruption” has not been cleaned up. Congressman William Jefferson is fighting the search warrant that discovered the $90,000 in his freezer. Senator Dianne Feinstein has resigned her position on the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee. She maintains directing millions of dollars worth contracts to her husbands companies only appears wrong. Earmarks on bills have not been eliminated and public discussion is not allowed. What ever happened to open government?A plan for dealing with the terrorists of the world has not been developed. Many Democrats do not believe we are in a war at all. Presidential hopeful John Edwards considers the war on terror to be a “bumper sticker slogan.” The “most powerful woman in the world,” Nancy Pelosi visited Syria where she misrepresented the Israeli position. She told the Syrians that we would work with them. She is unaware that Syria and Iran are funding, training and arming Al-Qaeda? Other than “bringing home the troops” no plan has been offered. Do these people believe that the Islamofascist will go away if we turn tail and run? I believe the answer is no.

Immigration problem has been botched at a monumental level. Partisan strife hit a new low on this issue. The Democrats desperate to regain the White House could not let President Bush appear to have a win. A bill so hideous that it had no chance of passing was drafted. To further compound the issue no amendments were allowed and discussion was cut off. Naturally the bill failed, with the Democrats falsely accusing the Republicans. Depending on whether you believe new legislation is needed or not problem still exists. The ills that the legislation was to cure are still here. The border between Mexico and America are still wide open. There are still millions of illegal aliens in the country. The security of the border has been completely ignored.

Only our elected officials have the option of ignoring problems. Only congress can leave problems unresolved and go home for the summer. Only congress can fail to act because it is an election year. Those of us who actually have jobs would have been fired for not solving a serious problem. The lack of communication between elected politicians and the average citizens has never been greater.

Corruption in government has not been cleaned up. Earmarking/pork has not been eliminated. The lobbyists are still paying for fancy trips for politicians. No solution to the war on terrorism has been proposed. Bringing the troops home does not solve the problem. Apparently the Democrats don’t believe that the terrorism threat is real. The immigration problem has been left on the table. Have the problems gone away?
