As we all know God can do anything He wants to do in the universe, in the world, in the United States, in our towns, in our churches and in each of our own family and individual lives.

God could choose to control every move we make and every thought in our heads. But, because of His deep concern and great love for us, God chooses to demonstrate His respect, love and desire for fellowship in a very significant way, a way that must be unique in the universe: He gives each one of us the great gift of a free will.

In this way, God relinquishes His control over us so that we can each act on our own, according to our own will, and be completely independent of His control – if we want to.Then, in addition, and because He knows us so well, He gives us another even greater gift: He makes a way for Christ, the Messiah to actually live in you and in me! So, with Christ living in us (Gal. 2:20) we are: vessels, containers, holders, the abode, and the place where Christ lives here on earth!

As I meditate and think about this, in many ways, it is mind-boggling. At the same time, it is simple pure truth that I accept by faith. No questions. No doubts. In the final analysis, if we truly want to be effective Christians, all that each one of us has to do is tell our God, in prayer, that we promise Him that the Christ in us has control of us from this day on. Thereafter, with Christ in control of our lives, our responsibility is to exercise our free will and be sure that we do our best to – let self go.
