As a registered Republican let me just say that President Bush, Republicans, and the politically conservative are not infallible. Only the Holy Scriptures are infallible! It is Biblical conservatism that is honorable -- not Party conservatism! Righteousness encompasses humility in which many Republicans are in great need. Worship God -- not Conservatism! It is written, O Conservative, that "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," saith the Lord!
It was once a politically conservative position to support unregulated and unrestrained capitalism, slavery, segregation, and rampant institutional racism. If not for the liberals even conservatives would not be enjoying the many benefits they take for granted now, especially in the workplace. Truth and error may be found among liberals as well as conservatives. Good and evil may be found among both liberals as well as conservatives.
When you have prominent individuals in the Republican Party comparing hard-working illegal Mexican immigrants, trying to make money to keep their families alive back at home, to "barbarians at the gates of Rome" and others saying that President Bush is a victim of misunderstanding and partisan politics even though he has a record of gross incompetence and outrageous mismanagement, and still others who say that because God has given man the right to have dominion over the earth that it's okay to rape the earth and not care about the environment and when a prominent conservative individual says that she gets a thrill and unutterable delight in seeing liberals foam at their mouths and the arteries of their neck bulging from rage, there is something very, very wrong and unhealthy in the Republican Party!
Just wait and see how the Republican Party will lose because the legally living Hispanics in the United States, the fastest growing minority, will be voting democrat out of utter disgust at how the majority of Republicans feel towards Mexicans. And that's what it is. They know that if the illegal Mexican immigrants were of Italian, German, or of pure European descent that there would not be this overwhelming opposition to a guest-worker program, or even amnesty. God knows it too!
Republicans do have much that is right and that is worth fighting for but they’re going to lose it all if there is no great awakening to humility and mercy as well as justice.
