America's major problem is not terrorism, but single mothers.

There is a case in the news right now of a mother who is filing a lawsuit against a school principal because he stopped a fight and had the boys apologize on bended knee. And the mother, instead of thanking the principal for teaching her young soon-to-be-hoodlum a lesson, files a lawsuit. I am reminded of Mrs. OJ swooning as OJ was found "not guilty." Mothers carry the "unconditional love" bit way too far.

Boys need a father for effective socialization and civilization. 70% of men in prison were raised without a father. This does not PROVE cause-and-effect, but it is highly suggestive of a strong relationship between single mothers and criminal young men.

And then when a man takes an interest in the young hoodlum-in-training and tries to civilize him, the mother reacts in the exactly wrong-headed way and tries to get the principal disciplined rather than disciplining her young thug wannabe. I noted a female lawyer on TV this morning making the same mistake. She thought the principal was exhibiting poor conflict resolution skills. DUH! This wasn't conflict resolution, it was a plain example of disciplining a member of the school society who was exhibiting poor socialization and civilization. One notes the female attorney was demonstrating poor civility herself, monopolizing the discussion, refusing to shut up when the lawyer who took the opposing view was speaking, and showing considerable hostility and then faking a smiling pleasantness on alternate moments.

The mother in this--and many other cases--is reinforcing bad behavior and suppressing positive, beneficial behavior. She is teaching her soon-to-be-in-jail son that it's OK to fight and good to avoid punishment by any means possible, and she is suppressing effective school discipline by making teachers and principals afraid to rein in the young thugs-in-training.
