Homosexuals Born That Way?
October 12, 2007 01:54 PM EST

Over the past years we have heard the argument from homosexuals that they cannot help being gay/lesbian because "we were born that way". Many conservatives disagree with that argument, some vehemently. As a Christian and a conservative, I am not afraid to say the gay and lesbian community are correct 100% when they say they were born that way.

Psalm 51:5 says "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." (NIV)

The problem is clear. We are all sinful from the time of conception through the inheritance of the sin committed by Adam and Eve when they committed the first sin of wanting to be like God, and following through by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. From that time all mankind, with the exception of Christ Jesus, was conceived with sin deeply embedded within their hearts.

But God gave us a way to get out of that sinful condition. That way is faith in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Redeemer. God also gave us a choice, even before Christ walked on the earth, to believe in his promise of forgiveness through faith in his son, and to turn away from the sinful nature within ourselves. As Christians, we strive to live our lives as examples of moral and honorable lives dedicated to the Lord. Gays and lesbians have also made their choice to live in depravity.

Romans 1:24-32(NIV) Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

It is too bad and even sad that gays and lesbians simply will not admit that they don't have the courage to stand against their sinful nature and repent and turn away from their sin. They have given into their sin, and God has turned them over to the devil so that they would see their sin and hopefully repent. It is not impossible for that to happen. Can you imagine what it would be like if even half or a quarter of homosexuals would realize the saving grace that God gives through Jesus and turn from their sin?

Sure, now some of you are likely thinking, "Who is this Mark John to cast stones? Who made him perfect?" I'll answer that here and now - nobody made me perfect. Am I any less sinful? No. Are you? Absolutely not. Yet through faith in Christ we are all perfect in God's eyes. If you don't believe me, believe God by reading his word.

The whole issue set of gay rights including gay marriages is a movement by a slim minority (less than 1% of the population) to overturn God's righteous order. The movement is clearly also an attack on Christianity in a most hateful way when we consider the slanderous names they call us as well as the abhorrent depictions they proudly use, such as the mocking of the last supper for a recent San Francisco Gay Pride event. Recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 and 25 when he said, "Because of the increase of wickedness the love of most will grow cold."

So what is a Christian to do about this? There is only two things I can think of - First: pray to God that he will change their hearts and open the eyes of their hearts to the hate they are perpetrating on us, while in most cases we Christians are trying to maintain love and compassion for them. Admittedly it is hard even for me to pray and have compassion, yet I know this is what our Lord wants from us. Second: Let your elected officials know you are not supporting gay marriage and additional gay rights, and you will not vote for them again if they support these issues.

What should we NOT do? Anything that would cause harm or injury to anyone. Jesus said to love the sinner, and hate the sin, not the other way around. But we also are not to condone or approve their actions.

Please join me in praying for the homosexuals of the world to turn away in true repentance from the sinful life they have chosen, and that God would lead me to pray more for these lost souls.
