It is possible America has passed the point of no return. As a nation, we may now be considered godless. The highest office in the land has issued a controversial statement that will affect every evangelical, Bible-believing, God-believing Christian left in our country.
As reported by the Washington Times and World Net Daily along with a White House transcript according to Pres. Bush anyone who prays, no matter to what god of their choice, is still praying to the same God. This presumes that all gods are equal to the Creator-God of the Bible---the one and only God who commanded first and foremost, “You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 19:3)
The First Commandment is certainly clear and concise. But now, we can pretend that Mother Earth or the nearest tree is the god(ess)of all heaven and the universe, pray to her and receive blessings galore. Remember, Satanism is a religion too and satanists pray to Satan.
Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi asked the question: “...in the Islamic world they think that Pres. Bush is an enemy of Islam -- that he wants to destroy their religion, what they believe in. Is that in any way true, Mr. President?”
After saying that this only shows that “the radicals have done a good job of propagandizing,” Pres. Bush stated the following:
“Well, ... I believe in an almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That’s what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace. And I believe people who murder the innocent to achieve political objectives aren’t religious people, whether they be a Christian who does that -- we had a person blow up our -- blow up a federal building in Oklahoma City who professed to be a Christian, but that’s not a Christian act to kill innocent people.”
Is it possible Pres. Bush has joined the political game of appeasing the whole of Islam? Also included must be the moderate muslims in America enjoying freedom and liberty, yet are completely silent on the Islamic Terrorists. Some of them even defend these murderers of their own people.
It is amazing to me that Pres. Bush and company do not know what God has done in history. Either that, or they haven’t read the same Bible as the rest of us.
What God Said and Did
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the stone tablets (Ten Commandments) and found the Israelites worshipping a Golden Calf, God issued a judgment on them. Those who believed Him stepped to the side of Moses. The believers were commanded to take their swords and kill “brother and friend and neighbor...about three thousand of the people died.” (Exodus 32)
In Revelation, chapter 5, we see there is only “one” in all the heaven and earth who is able to take ownership of the Deed to Earth from God’s hand.
Many Christians experience difficulty reconciling the Old and New Testaments. The NT gives us the Holy and Righteous God of love, grace and mercy who sent his Son, Jesus Christ, Redeemer and Savior. The OT gives us a picture of the Sovereign Creator-God of judgment and wrath on nations and peoples.
So many choose to go the love route without seeing God’s Holiness, Righteousness, judgments and wrath are included in His Love.
America stands on a Precipice
So, can we still claim America as Christian nation? I believe not. Rejection of God is seen throughout our society, the culture of entertainment, the government and education system. But this rejection started in some of the main-stream protestant denominations who have chosen to believe man instead of God. There is nothing new under the sun -- it’s a constant refrain throughout recorded history.
All prayers do not end up in the same place -- look at Revelation 5:8 to see whose prayers actually reach the Throne of the Creator of us all; “...golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”
As a whole, we may no longer proclaim America a Christian nation. But God created and owns all of Earth whether people believe Him or not.
Since all gods are now equal in America, pray to any god you like but don’t expect any answers.
