Time for a New Political Party?
October 18, 2007 12:00 PM EST

To all, of these troubled and tragic times;Yes, we are in troubled and tragic times, with little vision or positive direction from any part of our government.

Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.

I see that our currently empowered political parties are unwilling or unable to address the earned rights and benefits of our veterans, who have given their all. I cannot avoid the sight of the ruins of life and liberty under the feet of well shoed politicians calling themselves Democrat and Republican and Liberal and Conservative.

I understand that you and many of us are more than slightly disappointed in the actions inside the current administration toward veterans and those outside of the administration are doing little different from those on the inside.

Yes, we are in troubled and tragic times, with little vision or positive direction from any part of our government.

Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.

For years I have resisted at looking toward a 3rd or 4th party to provide what I thought we could change through our membership and participation in one of the 2 major parties. Apparently someone lied to us in our US History, Civics and Government classes in high school and college, or, something else has happened to our government that we have overlooked in our trust that those who run our government are there to look after our citizenry. It certainly does not look like that in either the Democrat or Republican Parties.

Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.

Like yourself I'm a Veteran who would like to see a world without the need for military action....Iraq is a product of the past 50 years of mismanagement by the US, the UN and political ambitions....I have true friends who are Muslim, Jewish, and other faiths, as well as numerous Christians from one end of the spectrum to the other. None of us like wars, but all of us recognize the need to clean house when housecleaning is needed. Due process, change through electoral procedures and other civil processes is always first choice, but reality does not always allow for those processes to work.

Do I want to see us at war in Iraq, or any other place, the answer is no... Do I want the Bin-Ladens, Saddams, Hitlers, Pol-Pots, etc., of the world to go unchecked, absolutely not. The UN has not lived up to it's charter, no big surprise. US foreign policy since the 2nd World War, has not worked either.

Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.

The international dynamics of power, greed, control of natural resources and man's inhumanity to man, all make the scenario of war inevitable, as it has since man's beginnings, that, I fear, will never change. We are stuck in a world of the lesser of evils, or the perceived lessers....all with fault, all with downsides.... I am not too fond of G.W. Bush, even though I had hopes he would be a good President, I do not issue him much of a passing grade. I was not too fond of Clinton either, and in my estimation, he was a poor representative of our country, in many ways... The truth of the matter is, other than Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Reagan, (post-WW2) it is my opinion "all the rest" have been lackluster Presidents.

Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.

But worse than the ineffectiveness, our government is and has been controlled by a government within a government, not partisan, but power and economic controllers, with heavy influence by international business interests, the military industrial complex, players of God in medical experimentation and myriad other such atrocities....I fear we all are pawns in the hands of these power brokers, your protests, my protests, your feelings, my feelings, none mean anything at all...we have no control, no real influence, all our efforts do is keep stirring more dust into the air, which helps obscure the real goings on in the background and the backrooms and the boardrooms of the power brokers of the world...We fool ourselves greatly to believe otherwise....our villains are truly dressed in many cloaks.
Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.

Thoughts of a new political party offer some exciting possibilities; a fresh, focused, uncorrupted, new beginning. It brings to mind the meetings of the Continental Congresses, the challenge and risks of beginning a Democratic Republic, the sacrifices made by the framers of our inspired Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. The other side of the coin is we must, if taking this course of action, beware of the pitfalls of the parties who are not fulfilling their responsibilities and obligations, we need assure to avoid all forms of impropriety, we must always stand vigilant that such a party does not become or is not, through infiltration, but an extension of one or both of the other parties, and we shall give no quarter for the extremes of the wings, left or right.

Preservation of the best of our structure of government through our Constitution is paramount to our success as a new party and as a nation.

Yes, we are in troubled and tragic times, with little vision or positive direction from any part of our government.

Perhaps this is the time to bring forth a new party.
