Beware the Law of the Seas Treaty
November 27, 2007 02:00 PM EST

For over 200 years, American vessels have had the freedom of the seas. This month the Senate of the United States is considering turning this boundless freedom over to the control and ownership of the United Nations as they attempt to ratify the Law of the Seas Treaty (LOST). LOST is the largest United Nations power grab the world has ever seen, with control of over 70% of the earth’s surface about to be in the hands of pirates and thieves with the help of many in our Senate. President Reagan refused to consider this socialist treaty because it went against the principles of the free and fair market Americans value, such as, free enterprise, private property, and competitiveness. If this was to be made into a movie, it might be titled, “The U.N. Pirates of the Caribbean Go Global”.

The unelected and unaccountable United Nations tribunal, the International Seabed Authority (ISA), working out of a Caribbean location, would effectively own and be in total control of the oceans, the minerals and energy resources in the seabed, the airspace over the oceans and any American soil the ISA considers polluted. At no time in United States history has any foreign entity had control over American land. The tribunal would most certainly be stacked in favor of third world and communist nations, such as China, that despise the United States. In short, the United Nations would be in command of the movement of all vessels, most especially U.S. Naval vessels, intelligence gathering, energy production, technological development and mineral mining.

One of the most atrocious components of the U.N.’s Treaty of the Seas would be the first world tax in history and, more importantly, the ability of the U.N.’s International Seabed Authority to change or amend the rules thereby having the total power to increase world taxation at any time. The United Nations has been trying for years to institute a global tax in order to force the redistribution of America’s wealth to other countries, as well as to their own U.N. coffers, and this is their perfect opportunity. There is guaranteed to be bribery and fraud--remember these are the same corrupt individuals that gave us “The Food for Oil” scam, the largest theft of billions of dollars in history! The United Nations would abscond with our money and our technology, with the right to give it to China, Iran, Russia, Syria and North Korea and this would only be the beginning of the money and technology transfers.

America’s independence will be at the greatest risk level since the Revolutionary War, should the Law of the Sea Treaty be ratified by our Senate. It harms our country’s ability to prosper and to protect its citizens. The United Nations’ Law of the Sea Treaty trumps the U.S. Constitution by superseding our representative government and our Supreme Court. Because this is a ‘treaty’, not an ‘agreement’, it is vitally important for the American people to know that they will never have a vote and there will never be any Congressional oversight. Indeed, the treaty creates its own court. American representative government would cease to exist within in the confines of the Law of the Sea Treaty and this is the primary goal of the United Nations.

The United States of America fought a war of Independence from foreign control over 200 years ago. Senator Biden, head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has refused to hold adequate hearings for full disclosure of the facts to the American people and is pushing for a hurried ratification of LOST in the Senate. Could it be that Senator Biden is well aware the American people would vehemently reject this United Nations’ power grab? There is a window of opportunity to defeat the Law of the Seas Treaty. Ask your Senators why Americans would willingly give up any freedoms for United Nations’ domination, one of the most corrupt institutions on the face of the earth.

American security and prosperity is not the concern of United Nations’ pirates and dictators, but it should be the concern of our Senators. Should LOST ever be ratified, the U. S. Constitution and sovereignty would be forced to walk the plank on this United Nations’ pirate ship intent on instituting world government.
