Husband Killer Serves 7 Months—Hovind to Serve 10 Years!
December 05, 2007 04:15 PM EST

Don Boys, Ph.D. - Today I plan to open a can of stinking worms. I expect to anger judges, prosecutors, lawyers, jurors, IRS agents, pastors and all non principled, non thinking, non caring people.

Mary Winkler arises early in her Selmer, Tennessee Church of Christ parsonage, goes to the closet for a shotgun, loads a shell and clicks it into the chamber. She walks to the bed where her preacher/husband is sleeping with his back to her and she pulls the trigger. The blast blew him out of bed and she leans over him saying, “I love you. I’m sorry” as she kindly wipes the blood bubbling from her dying husband’s lips, as he mutters “why?”

Well, he was mistreating her. He shouted and even kicked her. He made her have kinky sex, according to the murderess. Assuming all that to be true, it was reprehensible, repulsive, and repugnant for any man let alone a preacher. However, did it require the death penalty? Could she not have walked away? Could she not have reported him to church leaders or even the police? No, he was a “monster” so the she-monster killed the he-monster!

At her trial, her attorney brought out the above allegations although others did not corroborate her accusations. A defense psychologist testified that she was depressed and showed classic symptoms of “post-traumatic stress disorder.” Well, her husband suffers from post shotgun disorder and a bad case of rigor mortis. That means he is dead—graveyard dead.

At her sentence hearing she said, “I think of Matthew every day, and I'll always miss him and love him.” How could a judge permit such pap to be put in the record? She shot him in the back with a shotgun. He is DEAD! That is an undisputed fact.

When Mary Winkler took the stand, she turned to her husband’s family and told them she was “so sorry this has happened.” Note that the death of her husband just “happened.” Not, “I shot your son, my husband, my daughters’ father, the church’s pastor in the back for which I am sorry.” It just “happened.”
Mary Winkler's sister, Tabitha Freeman, asked the judge to give her a chance to be reunited with her children, and called her “the best example of a good person I can think of.” Say what? That is another example of trivial testimony that would gag a buzzard. She added, “She just needs them. She's not complete without them,” No, Mary Winkler is not complete without her husband with whom she was “one.” And if I haven’t made it clear, he is dead.
Mary Winkler served seven months in custody and is now free! Her attorney has filed a motion seeking to get custody of her daughters because it is "unconscionable and detrimental" to the children for them to be separated from their mother. Yea, sure. Maybe mommy could teach the girls gun safety or how to respond to mistreatment, or anger management.

She refuses to talk to the media (except to Oprah) because she is “depressed.” Again, let me remind you that her husband is dead. That is more permanent than “depressed.” What folly! It is proof that Lady Justice, the guardian of everyone, (even white, straight, creationist, Bible-believing Christians) is not only blind, but gagged, bound, and battered. If I had my way, the judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, and the jury would all go to jail! The purpose of the law is to prevent injustice from reigning, but injustice squats on a throne of tyranny while Lady Justice, lies ravaged in the streets of Selmer, Tennessee.

Now, let’s go from Tennessee where Mary Winkler is going to have a very merry Christmas to a Federal Prison in South Caroline. My friend Dr. Kent Hovind is sitting in the Big House and will be there for ten years for a highly debatable tax problem. He headed up a 508 non-profit organization for 17 years that specialized in creation evidence and was told by several attorneys that he was not responsible for withholding taxes from the few people who worked for the ministry. They would pay their own taxes. No big deal. Thousands of similar ministries are doing that as I write. In fact, Kent wrote the IRS three times asking them about his tax liabilities but got no response.

Hovind was also charged with “impeding” the IRS because he filed papers questioning their actions! Wait a minute! If a citizen questions the all-powerful IRS and calls them to account for their actions, is that illegal? Wow! It is illegal to call your servants (and that’s what all federal employees are) to an accounting! Oh, but Kent really became dangerous because he “threatened agents with bodily harm.” Sure he did. He prayed for them on the radio and that was construed as a threat! Folks, the loonies have taken over and not only in Tennessee but in Florida as well. Like Tennessee, this Florida case is another example where, in my opinion, the judge, prosecutor, IRS agent, and jury should go to jail!

Some pastors who used Kent many times in their pulpits will refuse to “have a jail bird” preach for them when he finally gets out of prison. After all, they are really principled preachers! No, they are hypocrites. They often mention great preachers of the past who spent time in the slammer, men like the Apostles Paul and Peter, Wycliffe, Huss, Bunyan, but those men are dead. Kent is still alive. It is my opinion that such cowardly preachers would not spit on aforementioned preachers if they were on fire.

Those cowardly preachers take the side of a corrupt judicial system for fear (or possible favor) against a preacher/scientist who has taken the Gospel and creationist teachings into many state universities with spectacular success. Those preachers don’t realize that any Bible-teaching preacher could be next on a federal hit list. And be not mistaken, the feds can find something on anyone. Such preachers should consider what Mann penned, “No man escapes when freedom fails, the best men rot in filthy jails, And those who cried, ‘Appease! Appease!’ are hanged by those they tried to please.”

Who knows but some totally innocent pastor (critical of Kent) reading this may become Kent’s cellmate and soul mate! Preachers who don’t think for themselves or permit public opinion to influence them are pathetic preachers who are moral cripples and are not aware of their limp or crooked walk.

Good men like Kent Hovind are in jail while many crooks are freely walking the streets, sitting in Congress, wearing black robes, and wearing impressive badges. My thoughtful opinion is that the two females (judge and prosecutor) should be home baking cookies and Kent Hovind should be home with his family.

I suggest that real justice would result if Hovind and Winkler were to trade places with her going to the Big House and him going to His House. Then maybe Lady Justice could hold her head up again. Serving his ten years would be more desirable for her than what she should have received and would have received if Lady Justice were unbound and ungagged.

And that’s the way I see it. “Goodnight Chet.” “Goodnight David.”
