Conservatives are wrong when they portray President Reagan’s primary strength as devotion to conservative principles and commitment to national security.
President Reagan’s primary strength was that he apparently knew and lived by the belief that principles without integrity are self-deception at best and fraud at worst.
Starting with basics, definition of oath: solemn promise, a formal or legally binding pledge to do something often made to God.
Example: oath to God to uphold, protect, and defend America’s Constitution from all enemies domestic and foreign. In the case of American Presidents, the oath is taken to God before millions of American citizens as witnesses.
Clarifications:
- the oath refers to the U.S. Constitution as written not interpreted;
- the is no expiration date on the Constitutional oath as there is on wedding vow oaths “till death do us part”;
- for those who have ever taken the Constitutional oath, it is still in effect.
Training can often be enhanced by repetition. Another example, Americans may not have a positive future history so long as they continue to be ashamed of displaying Heaven’s Ten Commandments on public property.
Consider reputations of America's last three presidents:
1. One was not re-elected to a second term for lying to the American people about raising taxes.
2. Another President left office in disgrace for having a promiscuous soul, betraying wedding vows made to Heaven, and breaking his oath to God and the American people to uphold, protect and defend America’s Constitution. Listing all the man’s indiscretions based on lack of total integrity would take more volumes than most speed readers could ever finish.
3. The third example is an internationalist who apparently does not know the difference between ethical and unethical capitalism. This same man has blatantly violated his oath to God made with millions of Americans as witnesses to uphold, protect, and defend America’s Constitution with special interest illegal immigration policies structured to protect Mexico’s Aristocracy not American citizens. This same individual might be accused of criminal negligence for southern border security policies which will eventually threaten America’s National Security.
Being honest with my readers, I have never been a President Reagan disciple.
I have always respected and admired the man’s integrity and devotion to conservative principles and commitment to national security. I just felt he was too liberal on some issues.
Restating the obvious, President Reagan’s primary strength was that he knew and lived by the belief that principles without integrity are self deception at best and fraud at worst. A lesson at least three of American Presidents never learned.
The single quality most needed by America’s next President: first, integrity to honor their oath to uphold, protect, and defend America’s Constitution; second and third conservative values and commitment to America’s national security.
That omits the Democrat Party so I guess America’s future history depends on Republicans offering American voters a man with President Reagan’s integrity.
