The Anti-Defamation League [ADL] was founded in 1913 by B'nai B'rith at first to combat anti-Semitism and then decided to combat other forms of bigotry as well as anti-Semitism. The ADL's current president is Abraham Foxman.
According to the article in Charisma called Treatment of Palestinian Christians medieval [it was an article talking about persecution of Christians by Islamic extremists in the Palestinian Authority [PA]], Abraham Foxman said the following:
“I stand here tonight as an American Jew and as a survivor of the Holocaust to say to you that ‘never again’ was a pledge that the Jewish people learned with great pain and sadness. But ‘never again’ is not limited to Jewish pain and suffering…I pledge to you that our voices will be heard whenever Christians are discriminated against.”
But does that never again include Cuban-Americans who are one of the most shunned people on earth for the simple "crime" of bringing the truth about how horrible the Castro regime is? The ADL is fortunately not pro-Castro and while they're not promoting bigotry toward Cuban-Americans, they are not combating it either.
Abraham Foxman does deserve to be commended for writing the book "The Israel Lobby and the Myth of Jewish Control" as a response to the distorted book by John Mearsheimer and Stephan Walt, which falsely claims that the Israeli government, Israeli people and by pro-Israel activists dominate US policy to the Middle East.
The ADL has constantly said that their goal is to stop the defamation of the Jewish people... and to secure peace and fair treatment to all. Again, does that include the Cuban-Americans? The ADL, which wants to make the world more tolerant and promotes civil rights, is silent about Cuban-Americans. They have condemned people who make bigoted remarks toward immigrants? They say extremely little about the Cuban exiles, who are courageous trying to show us the truth about the Castro regime and is being defamed to do so. As a Jew, I say it is good that the ADL is fighting anti-Semitism and is focused on the Jewish community [and though I don't agree with the ADL on everything about Israel and I don't agree with them on every issue, but I'll let that pass in this article] as well as disputing these anti-Israel libels including claims that the pro-Israeli activists dominate US policy to the Middle East. So after decades of silence, it's time for the ADL to actually combat bigotry toward the Cuban-American community as well. Even though the bigotry toward the Cuban-Americans community is not as bad as the anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany, it is still has parallels to the anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany and is still a serious issue. It is still a form of bigotry, the very bigotry that the ADL has committed itself to combat.
