If the Republican Party should focus on a true conservative, that person is Alan Keyes. By conservative, I mean someone with true conservative convictions, and not merely one who touts his conservatism as an elitist, straying from his positions on important issues.

Mr. Keyes remains humble yet passionate in all his affairs. Passionate in debates, people may think of him as a rogue as he gets fired up over the issues. But I believe Keyes's passion comes from a desire to alert Americans to a country that could be lost if we abandon our traditionally held values for a more secular viewpoint.

Recognizing this country's rich heritage in the Christian faith does not indicate a desire to push a theocracy. Our nation was founded on the freedoms to worship as one pleases. But there is certainly nothing wrong with supporting a Republican candidate who will stand up for traditional values that have recently been under attack in our nation.

Conservatives against big government/corporate elite

Conservatives in the Republican Party are fed up with big government and out of control spending. They are fed up with elite Republicans, RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) as some are called. So why would Republicans choose from among the top tier candidates who will likely continue with big government policies and fall in favor with the corporate elite? It's politics as usual and we have only ourselves to blame if we allow that to happen. Shouldn't we break up that cycle?

We the People have the choice, not the media, which chooses to ignore some conservative candidates and give constant coverage to others.

Alan Keyes has been cut out of debates and shunned by the media for a good reason. He is not part of the elite group of top tier Republicans.

The media will give attention to any Republican that will be just a bit compromising in their positions... someone who will be liberal enough that the media will feel comfortable with heralding as an opponent for the Democrat nominee and contender for the presidency.

In any situation, voters should choose candidates that closely fit their convictions. Conservatives should rightly pick a conservative candidate. Not merely one who is doing well in the polls or is popular.

I am convinced that the man needed for the times that we face in America today, is Alan Keyes. He is a man to awaken our spiritual apathy. He is a man who will remind us who we are and to urge us to meet challenges ahead with the help of Almighty God. Mr. Keyes is a man who embodies the spirit of the Reagan era.

Alan Keyes, a passionate man for our times. And a passionate president is what we need.
