The first clue that Hillary might be on the way out was when John Edwards began to blatantly suck up to Barack Obama, clearly angling for a VP slot.

The future may really be in the hands of the younger voters now, which bodes ill. They have been, in the main, educated by a failing bureaucracy, our government school system. Many of them can't identify what any of the candidates really stand for, but can at least pronounce Obama better than Teddy Kennedy.

The young are always revolutionary, wanting change, but that's mostly because they don't yet realize that at least half the changes they want have been tried already and are changes for the worse, not the better.

Used to be that the impetuousness of the young was counterbalanced by the middle-aged and the elderly, but now the middle-aged baby-boomers are often left-over 60s radicals who still clutch desperately at some of the old slogans such as "make peace, not war."

And too many of the elderly are dependent upon the dole, having bet on Social Security as a mainstay of their retirement rather than as a small safety net in case of disaster. Thus the elderly may not be courageous enough to speak out against the continual creep of socialism and the class warfare games of the political left.

Obama could be a uniter, all right, but he may be uniting some of the more dangerous impulses of political groups right now. Just as with Huckabee, I fear Obama is a slick snake oil salesmen selling bottles of "Change," guaranteed to cure all ills.
