Barbara Bush For President
January 12, 2008 03:23 PM EST

Hillary Rodham Clinton has changed the rules with respect to writing a good résumé.

Now it seems that a wife can include, as experience, not only what she has accomplished in life but what her husband has accomplished as well.

This is how Hillary gets 35 years of experience out of a seven-year Senate career. Based on that new approach to résumé stacking, may I suggest that she move over for a far more qualified person to serve as president of the United States. Her name is Barbara Pierce Bush.

Unlike Clinton, Bush’s husband was not a draft dodger but rather a war hero. True, he isn’t a lawyer like Hillary’s but, then again, the U.S. Supreme Court has never disbarred him, either.

While both Barbara and Hillary’s husbands served as president, Barbara’s husband was also vice president, ambassador to the United Nations, chairman of a major political party, director of the Central Intelligence Agency and chief of the U.S. Liaison Office to China.

What’s more, she was the mother of six children, not just one. One of her children became a governor of a major state and then president of the United States and another became governor of another major state.

Of course, Hillary can counter that her husband was a governor of a small state, but look how quickly she opted for a change of address once it politically suited her. So don’t expect to hear her singing “Dixie” anytime soon.
