For eight years Senator McCain has been the media's favorite Republican. To the MSM he's been the sole voice of reason and sanity for the entire GOP. While everyone else is supposed to be a closet Nazi, Senator McCain has been a source of moderation and bipartisanship. Heck, even the New York Times liked him.
Well, that was until he became the GOP nominee. Conservatives have warned him for years that the media would turn on him like a pack of jackals when he became the GOP nominee. Did he really think that the media would hold him in such high esteem when he became the man to take on their beloved Obama?
Now, while most conservatives have many disagreements with Senator McCain, I count myself among that number, I am siding with Senator McCain. First of all the National Enquirer is more believable than the New York Times. The paper of record has, more often than not, reduced itself to making up stories or going with stories with little proof to back up their claims.
The sources for the Times are former McCain staffers who have an ax to grind, and the woman in question has not confirmed the story or made any accusations against the Senator. If Senator McCain is guilty then he deserves to be held accountable. He's held himself to be a paragon of virtue, and honesty in government in a climate of greed and corruption. And I think until I see absolute proof it's probably safer to believe a Senator who has served his country bravely and is known for his integrity over a newspaper that has a radical political agenda and will do anything to see it accomplished.
In a way this is more about protecting Obama. It's a preemptive strike against the Republican nominee, the left wing media wants Obama in office so bad they can taste it. A pure leftist who is going to raise taxes through the roof, who is going to socialize health care(not to mention everything else he can get his hands on)surrender to the terrorists, and grovel before the UN on anything. If that means the media has to throw their favorite Republican under a bus, so be it.
The New York Times could have run this story earlier but they waited until they were sure he was the one who was going to take on Obama. McCain may not be the most conservative Republican but he is a patriot and for the New York Times to knowingly drag his name through the mud to help their candidate is unforgivable.
Senator McCain should know that he can no longer expect decent treatment from the media, the yellow journalists are going to keep coming after him to pull the election in they way they want, and Senator McCain needs to be ready for that.
