The O'Bama Strategy
March 05, 2008 01:00 PM EST

It was a couple months after the Normandy invasion when General Dwight Eisenhower called his staff together and said, "Men, we've chased the Germans out of France. It's cost a lot of lives and a lot of money. But the Republicans aren't supporting FDR at home. Some of the American people are upset over the loss of life. Some of them are saying we could spend this money better at home on more TVA projects and make-work for the folks who've been put out of work during the Depression. Some are saying we shouldn't be here because we weren't attacked at Pearl Harbor by the Germans. So what we're going to do is pack up, get back on the boats, and go back to England, and we'll wait there and see if the Germans return to France. If they do, then we'll stage another Normandy invasion."

Some of his staff officers were horrified. Patton, in particular, claimed that it was a stupid idea to cut and run now and allow Hitler and the Nazis time to regroup, resupply, and regain their strength. "It would only cost more lives and money if we had to do this all over again" Patton shouted. "Where the hell did you study military strategy, Ike?"

"Why, I've been in Ireland studying at the Brock O'Bama Military Academy for Pacifists," replied Ike.

"Ike, do you think it's too late to get a refund of your tuition?" asked Patton.
