He could. But He has chosen not to.
When God created Adam and Eve, God pulled back his knowledge to allow for mortal’s free will. From that moment onward, God allowed Himself not to know everything.
John Calvin says otherwise; but Calvin was wrong. And his followers are still wrong.
If Calvinists are correct, then we mortals are wind-up toys. Nothing more. We just think we have free will; but according to them, we don’t. We are machines.
However, the Bible presents mortals as free will agents. We make decisions. We are accountable and will answer at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Therefore, God has pulled back His knowing everything in order to permit actual decision-making. It’s not a hoax or illusion.
When reading the Bible, one realizes over and over again a God who is surprised Himself at mortals’ choices. For instance, Noah’s generation is a case in point. God Himself was saddened and surprised at the overwhelming wickedness throughout that generation.
God stated, per the Bible, that He regretted ever having started the mortal project. In fact, God was so angry at the sinners that He was apt to wipe out the entire human population, erasing the planet.
However, He noted eight who were righteous—Noah, wife, three sons and their wives. Therefore, God kept these safe via the ark while destroying all the others.
True: God could know everything about everyone from Adam and Eve to the end of planetary existence. But that would leave us mortals as nothing but robots.
But God could not have fellowship with robots. He had that in the lower animals’ instincts. God wanted to have a friend. Therefore, when creating the friend, he implanted free will—actual, real-time real-life decision-making processes.
That free will could stomp on God’s presence, reject His Spirit, spit in the face of His divine revelation and damn God till blue in the face. After all, countless have chosen to do just that. That’s part of the free will program.
On the other hand, for God to have a true friend, He had to count on some loving Him, serving Him and expecting to see Him face to face in heaven. That’s part of the free will program, too.
For God, it was worth the free will ingredient implanted, hence the reality definition of who we mortals are.
Once God permitted free will, God stepped back to allow Himself not to know everything about everyone till the close of human history.
So it is.
