“’If I be lifted up, I will draw all mankind to me,’”
Jesus said that.
The mission of the Christian church throughout the Church Age is to do just that—simply and forthrightly, compassionately and without compromise.
When Pope Benedict meets in the US with representatives from five non-Christian faiths, he will address the group.
May he lift high Christ, the only Hope in any age, in any geography. It is Christ who made the planet, maintains the planet, and one day will master the planet for a millennial reign of holiness.
In the meantime, Christ’s children of grace must remind the planet of its coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
When the Iranian president spoke to the UN, he began his address with a prayer to the Islamic coming messiah, so-thought by Muslims. He did not hedge. He did not apologize. He did not blur.
So it is with the Christian testimony. It must not hedge or apologize or blur. It is must speak truth for it is that Christ who claimed to be Truth—“’I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.’”
Per AP: “The 45-minute event on April 17th in Washington will include a papal address, greetings from the faith leaders and a presentation of gifts symbolic of each faith by youths from the respective communities.
“A spokeswoman for U.S. bishops says there won't be time for any formal interfaith dialogue.
“The gathering will include 200 invited guests, and Benedict is scheduled to meet personally with three Jewish leaders, three Muslim leaders, two Buddhist leaders, a Hindu leader and Jain leader.”
In that address, may Pope Benedict lift high the Christ of the cross.
