The hype has been that Obama is a different kind of politician, not one who plays politics just like the rest. But that audacious hype has some chinks now. (No, not a Chinese slur.)
In Canada an Obama advisor lets slip that Obama isn't serious about canceling NAFTA, and then Hillary wins Ohio and Texas.
Now another advisor, Samantha Powers, calls Hillary a monster, resigns from the Obama campaign, and then it is revealed that she says Obama may not be able to withdraw all the troops from Iraq immediately.
And then we notice Hillary making comments about a Hillary-Obama ticket. Now where have we heard that before? Oh, yes, right here on TCV, where I have previously discussed my theory that the entire "contest" between Hillary and Obama is a well-choreographed dance designed to keep up excitement among Democrats, hog the media attention, and produce a ticket that will theoretically garner the female vote, the black vote, the Latte Democrat vote, the union vote, and all the other Democratic constituencies' votes. I predicted that Obama would have to start bumping into some curbs to slow down his momentum if that political NASCAR race were to come out the way that was planned.
And then we see the advisors on cue bumping into the curbs.
The only thing that doesn't fit my theory is that the rhetoric between Hillary and Obama has become somewhat nasty, angering the black constituency of Obama and the feminist constituency of Hillary. The hope and plan is, and one notes the audacity of hope, that they can smooth things over during the convention and before the November election. This would be helped immensely if Hillary could hold the popular vote lead going into the convention. Again, one notes the Obama advisors' remarks, which just might help achieve that.
Then they have to hope that nobody notices that it has all been a sham contest. Such audacity! Or I could be wrong when I concocted this theory, but then I will admit it, unlike the global warming computer modelers and their following.
