The struggle for control of the White House in 2009 is a perfect analogy for the current state of the West. On the one side you have John McCain, an old Pale Male scarred by the many (moral) struggles the West has fought over the past two and a half millennia, and on the other side you have the (demographically) upcoming 'Other'.... slugging it out to determine who will own the future. All promise Hope, but can they deliver? In short; will Rome still be Rome when Romans no longer rule?

Sad but true, Hillary Clinton, is just another anachronistic First Wave feminist whose sole aim is ultimate power, and Osama Barack is a completely inexperienced Afro-American, whose sole promise (Hope) is based on a myth (the Noble Savage). That the latter (a male) has based his campaign on his 'blackness' and not his 'whiteness', is clearly indicative of the continuing criminalization of the Pale Male. That this, in itself, is racist goes without saying, for to choose his 'blackness' over his 'whiteness' (he is half-black and half-white, not just half-black) is blatantly prejudiced. But then, who can blame him; the 'Science' of Victimology is still having a whale of a time ever since Freud and Marx invented the Eternal Victim (of trauma and capitalist exploitation, read alienation). Even Doris Lessing, the 2007 Literature Nobel Prize winner, has jumped on the Victimology bandwagon by stating that Obama will be assassinated if he became President. Assassinated by whom? By some Pale Male of course….those 'evil' creatures who stole humanity's innocence by 'traumatizing' women and children (in the nuclear family), alienating 'poor' workers through capitalist exploitation, destroying the natural environment through science and raping the eternal beauty of the Noble Savage through self-serving racism.

And who better than liberal Hollywood to conjure up new Lullaby Songs of Heaven for all the 'victims' of the Pale Male. Al Gore gets an Oscar for promising the end of all future wars once we have 'saved the planet' from Pale Male caused Global Warming. Bono's pubescent humming has given him the moral right to blackmail democratically elected Western governments into writing off the ligitimate debts of African dictators and Osama Barack, with an Oprahverse (Grammy) prize for his book, The Audacity of Hope, will herald in a Millennium of Global Peace…. just like Bill Clinton did….before 9/11 rained on his secular humanist megalomania.

But alas, things are unfortunately a bit more complicated than popular culture would have us believe. Despite the beauty of idealism (ergo, Hope) we still do live in Darwin's Zoo, and to let our (the West's) guard down now will be fatal. Brutal China, Putin's Russia, radical Islam, primitive Africa etc. don't give a damn about the moral imperatives we hold so dear, and it's just a question of time before the 'clash of civilizations' starts in earnest. And to willy-nilly leave our responsibility (the continuation of the Enlightenment) in the hands of the untried 'Other' just because we want to enjoy our demographic pension borders on suicide. Because what has the 'Other' really given humanity?

For example, Barack bases his Hope on his 'blackness' (not his 'whiteness') and this, in itself, is rather ridiculous because what has Africa ever given humanity except adolescent art and top athletes? The current voting pattern of Liberal Afro-Americans illustrates how 'clan-like' their political perspective still is. Their overwhelming support for Obama purely by virtue of his 'blackness' is diametrically opposed by the political maturity (e.g. 'colour-blindness') of the many whites who support him because, and let us be honest here, he seems like a very amicable fellow. But, sadly, the time for Mr Nice is not now.

Getting back to the promises of an Afro-Messias; South Africa, the hope of Africa has, predictably, turned out to be just another African moral hell hole where, for example, gangs of black men roam the streets with impunity - raping, murdering and pillaging to their hearts content because the basic rules of civilization have broken down ever since Mandela's Noble Savages took over the reins of this, erstwhile, First World country. The primitive mind seems incapable of 'internalizing' moral rules of behavior, only the fear of physical pain can keep it in check. And when the latter is not given, all hell (Homo homini lupus) breaks loose. Let us be brutally honest here, Africa's so-called Renaissance was a miscarriage from the start. To therefore turn to Africa for humanity's future (ala Obama's 'blackness' campaign) is absolutely absurd.

The same applies to China. Apart from fantastic scientific discoveries and marvelous poetry, China's Weltanschauung has always been one of moral disengagement from existence. When the moral going gets tough, they meditate. Hillary Clinton's First Wave Feminism, with its sole aim to 'be like all-powerful Alpha Males', is no solution either. Being fundamentally reactive, they can only take….never give. And in doing so they (First Wave Feminists) have, with the help of Freud's disciples, undermined the authority (and responsibilities) of the family, teachers, law enforcement, etc. In short, all the social (and moral) structures that have made the West the envy of all.

That these structures have never been perfect goes without saying, but that they have, at the end of the day, been the foundation of the success of the West is without question. And the West, imperfect as it is, has always been the most progressive civilization on the planet! Wasn't it the Pale Male who stopped slavery, colonialism and Apartheid? Wasn't it the Pale Male who gave Universal Suffrage to all? Wasn't it the Pale Male who discovered the most fundamental secrets of the Universe? Wasn't it the Pale Male who invented democracy, Human Rights, the separation of Church and State, etc? In short; we are Hope. And yet we are still being criminalized day in day out!

Be that as it may; nothing we as humans have ever tried has ever been perfect….and it will never be! And to make bold promises of a terrestrial Utopia, like Bill, Al, Osama and Hollywood are doing is absolutely delusional, for Darwin is mostly right, and therefore, in effect, a perfect spokesman for God. For example, the Commandment 'Thou shalt not kill' is there precisely because we are programmed to do so in Darwin's Zoo. Just because the West has been on a honeymoon because she has dominated the global stage for the past two centuries doesn't mean that Darwin's Zoo has closed its gates. And this simple acceptance of the way things are has, to a large extent, been the Christian foundation of the West (as expressed by/in moderate Conservatism).

Try as we may, things will never turn out perfect. But to escape into Art (like 'Old Man' Europe) ala Schopenhauer, just because existence is brutal, is no solution either. Believe it or not, artists/celebrities (Bono, Brangelina, Paris Hilton, etc), just like philosophers (e.g. Marx) and scientists (e.g. Sir Francis Bacon) will not save the world, and neither will Hollywood-suckled (e.g. Oprah) feel-good Liberal politicians. Sober realism, ergo Realpolitik, is the only way forward for the West if we want to guarantee our way of living in the future….because at the end of the day Darwin still rules the roost.

Only numbers and moral hegemony can save the West now. In his very interesting, yet controversial book, March of the Titans, the South African author Arthur Kemp highlighted the civilizational problems associated with simple demographics, even before Huntington did. The realization that basic demographics is the Achilles Heel of cultural relativism (read secular humanism) must dawn forthwith, lest we perish without a peep. And this message should serve as a dire warning to all in the West to close moral ranks and fight for what we believe in…in order to survive as the completely unique civilization we have always been.

America, the current guardian of the West, will implode soon, just like the USSR did, and it will be up to 'Old Man' Europe to carry the banner (Hope) of Christianity, the Reformation and the Enlightenment into the future. But first the 'Old Man' (especially the Germans) must wake up from his feel-good moral slumber! Either we do so in all haste, or we'll end up like King Leonides and his brave Spartans on the Last March of the Titans.
