Magdi Allam, an Egyptian born journalist living in Italy is the newest example of the intolerance of Islam and what it seeks to do to the indvidual rights of everyone it comes in contact with. What was Allam's great crime? Yesterday, on Easter Sunday, he was baptized by Pope Benedict XVI into the Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Allam was already under guard for his criticism of Islamic terrorism. The soldiers of the "religion of peace" wanted him dead for supporting Israel and criticizing terrorism. Now he's an apostate. He willingly converted from Islam to Christianity. The key word is willing. Unlike many "converts" to Islam, Mr. Allam never had a gun pointed to his head, and was never threatened with beheading. He conversion was of his own free will. That's something Islam doesn't recognize human beings as having.
Muslims have lived in paranoia for a long time now. To the Muslim mind there are conspiracies everywhere seeking to undermine Islam and their civilization. Both points are easily refuted. Even when European ruled over Muslim lands no one was forced to convert to Christianity, in fact most in the west don't care whether they convert or not, all we ask of them is to stop blowing things up. Secondly they don't have a civilization for us to destroy. Even in their "golden age" all they did was stand on the ruins of far greater civilizations.
Islam might deserve to have a crusade launched against it, but the west is to busy cowering in fear of Islamic riots of harmless cartoons, and short movies that people probably never would have watched if they hadn't gone rioting over it.
Magdi Allam has every right to choose whatever religion he wants. Islam recognizes no such freedom. It doesn't really recognize any freedom, or any rationality, at all. The western world has given the world much but if it doesn't stand up to the intolerance and violence of Islam what it has given the world could be overrun. Europeans governments already quake in fear, maybe it's time they start standing up to dark age thugs, and stop worrying about what turban wearing psychotics think.
