US Army Colonel Killed in Iraq; Regular Bloggers Roundtable Briefer
April 11, 2008 04:52 PM EST

by Jim Kouri, TCV Reporter -- It is with great sadness that I report the death of a Bloggers Roundtable briefer in Iraq:

U.S. Army Col. Stephen K. Scott. Scott was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, when insurgents attacked his unit with indirect fire. He was assigned to the Security Assistance Office, Multinational Security Transition Command-Iraq. Scott's recent participation in the DOD's excellent Bloggers Roundtable was one of this writers favorite events.

The Department of Defense announced the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died April 6 in Baghdad, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit with indirect fire.

In addition to Col. Stephen K. Scott, 54, of New Market, Ala., Maj. Stuart A. Wolfer, 36, of Coral Springs, Fla. was killed. He was assigned to the 11th Battalion, 104th Division, Boise, Idaho.

The Department of Defense's "Bloggers Roundtable" is a series of press teleconferences for Internet journalists and bloggers.
