Leftists have repeatedly accused President Bush of destroying our democracy. Yet their accusations against Preisdent Bush are not only false. They're hypocritical. Yet a former president of Chile did destroy democracy. He tried to turn his country into a Communist country and had movement of the Revolutionary Left [MIR] , Chile's Shining Path, carry out his terror. His evil plan to turn Chile into a Communist dictator was foiled by the Chilean army led by General Augusto Pinochet.
Just so you people know, the name of the Communist dictator is Salvador Allende. The left's version of the tale is far more absurd than a fairy tale. Their version is that Allende was a popularly elected guy and that he introduced harmless elements of Socialism. Then on September 11, 1973, America and their proxy Pinochet then launched a coup and destroyed democracy.
The political left really hates president Bush and accuses him of turning this country into a dictatorship, the very thing their heroic martyr Allende was guilty of. The left falsely accuses president Bush of cheating in the 2000 and 2004 elections.
First off, Allende was not popularly elected. That's not to say he cheated in the elections. He got a third of the vote and was elected by the Chilean congress, which made him swear his land reform wouldn't violate the Chilean constitution. However, Allende broke his promise. He took everyone's land, even having the MiR using violence for him. The MiR terrorized Chile and recieved support form Allende. Allende got support from the USSR and Cuba.
The Chilean supreme court called on him to restore order. However, he continued to support the MIR, which carried out terrorist attacks on Chile. So Allende did not obey the supreme court order.
Under Allende, the Chilean Congress and Supreme Court had as much power as the king and queen of England have today i.e. no power. Allende continued disobeying them. In August 22, 1973, the chilean Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Chile's congress called for Allende's removal. It was composed of the national Party sand the Christian Party, the latter of which was one of the parties that elected Allende and made him swear he wouldn't violate the Chilean constitution. Yet the Christian Democrats discovered what Allende was doing the hard way. He kidnapped and/or killed many farmers such as Rolando Matus [Matus was kidnapped and killed] for protesting his land reform. The Chilean Chambe rof deputies called on the Chilean army led by Gerneral Augusto Pinochet to overthrow Allende. Pinochet complied and on September 11, 1973 overthrew Allende. Allende ruined the Chilean economy with his Communist policies.
I will not go into detail in this article about Chile under Pinochet. I will say that he fixed and made prosperous the Chilean economy by listening to the chicago Boys by having free-market Capitalism. Chile's economy is prosperous even today. I will also say that he planned to eventually give up his power to democracy. He did give up his power to democracy in 1990 when the Chilean people voted to keep him in a while longer or for him to give up power. Most Chileans chose the latter. So he gave up power to make way for the reestablishment of democracy in Chile. As a result, Chile is a prosperous democracy.
Yet the political left falsely accuses president Bush of destroying democracy, especially when he uses other means in fighting radical Islamsit terrorists who are trying to make the world including the USA into a global Islamic Caliphate. Allende supported terrorists and carried out a policy of state terrorism. But president Bush discovered the hard way the threat of radical Islamist terrorism after they killed more than 3,000 innocent Americans in cold blood.
They claim that president Bush can detain anyone without trial even for criticizing him. Yet I heard many people criticize him and make fun of him. Nothing happened to them. They weren't locked up in Guantanimo. He is one of the presidents who has many people making fun of and criticizing him. Yet nothing happens to them. Some people hate president Bush so much that they become anti-Americans by calling the insurgents who kill Iraqi civilians and American soldiers and civilians in cold-blood. They evne whitewash the Islamo-fasciists.
I don't love president Bush. The iraq war is a costly war. I think leaving Iraq is a suicidal policy. Leftists, while accusing president Bush of destroying democracy, make Allende who really did destroy democracy look heroic. That proves thehypocrisyof the political left.
