"We are Trinity, one in God, united in prayer, peace, power and purpose for our Church and Senior Pastor."
That's the message posted at the website of Trinity United Church of Christ of Chicago, Illinois.
The "Senior Pastor"?
That's Rev. Jeremiah A. "God damn America" Wright, Jr.
The man who brought rookie United States Senator and presidential hopeful Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. to Jesus Christ according to Obama himself.
The man from one of whose sermons Obama audaciously lifted the title of his second book, The Audacity of Hope, without even an acknowledgement in the book.
The man who performed the Obama wedding ceremony.
The man who baptized Obama's daughters.
The man who prayed privately with Obama immediately before Obama made his public announcement of his presidential campaign.
The man who Obama first invited and then "disinvited" to appear at the public announcement because his sermons could be "rough."
The man who served on Obama's religious advisers committee even though his sermons could be rough.
The man who Obama equated with the Black Community and his white grandmother and refused to "disown" during his Race in America speech.
The man who Obama finally disowned after he repeatedly said in public that Obama had publicly distanced himself from some of the man's incendiary statements because he was "a politician," not a pastor.
The man who Obama now refers to as his former pastor.
Even though Obama is still a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and that man is still Senior Pastor.
That Obama can be Clintonian!
Technically, Rev. Wright is Obama's former pastor, since he's now Senior Pastor and another man (Rev. Otis Moss III) is Pastor (under the Senior Pastor) of Trinity United Church of Christ.
So Obama's current pastor is Rev. Otis Moss III, not Rev. Wright, but Rev. Moss is Rev. Wright's protege.
The website puts it this way:
"Rev. Otis Moss, III currently serves as Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
Incidentally, the website is still seeking applications for an African-American only-scholarship for which the application deadline was last April Fool's Day.
