I get tired of reading about these financial wiz kids trying to tell me how to spend my money. If I want to pay my bills or gas the ol SUV, then that is what I will do. Yea, I didn't run out and buy a new HDTV, or riding lawn mower, at least not yet. See, I figure if I get by bills paid, and budget on track, then later on down the road, I can get those things. To me, that is helping the economy out. One bill, one family, at a time. If every family took this advice, then slowly we could work the economy back into shape. Otherwise, we are just giving the economy a one-time shot in the arm. Then we can all go back to our pathetic little pile of bills, and blame out lot in life on everyone else.
Now that I am on my soapbox, let me pen about on other subject that just chaps my hide. Welfare. You talk about the greatest government give-away ever, this is it. Now I know that it is there for a reason, but I believe we have forgotten that reason, so folks will juststay on the gravey train. I was raised in a "union" household, so I know about lay-offs. My father was layed off at least 3-6 months out of every year. He drew his unemployment, but he also moonlighted on the side to keep the food on the table and the bills paid. Never once did we get on the "gray train" because my father didn't feel like working, or he thought it was "owed" to him.
Here is my solution to the free ride. If you have to go on the dole, fine. But you are not staying there. Six months, and you better have some sort of job. Even if it is minimum wage, at least it is a paycheck, and you will be helping to support the "gravy train". So you make more on the "gray train" than you can working. Well here is the solution. Take this as an example, if a family is getting $600.00 a week from welfare, but you get a job that will pay you $300.00 a week, then take it. Welfare will provide you the other $300.00, until your wages catch-up to the $600.00 mark.
Oh, your single parent. Sorry, last time I did my math, it takes two, to make three! So where is the missing digit? God didn't give you those "tools" for pleasure at the governments expense. Oh, and yes I'm "pro-choice." As in, you had a choice to "play" to you need to be an adult and live with it.
God Bless America.
