To say that Republicans should be concerned about their prospects in November(at least as far as congressional races go) is something of an understatement. Republicans shouldn't be concerned, they should be terrified. Not only are Reopublicans losing special elections, they are losing them in paces where they have enjoyed success in the past. You know that when the GOP loses in Mississippi it's all over.
The Republicans desertion of conservative principles, and the culture of corruption that infected them when they became the ruling party, are going to catch up to them, in spades. If things keep going like this congressional Republicans are looking at their worst beating since 1974, where they lost 48 seats. Well, maybe that's a bit much. But considering the GOP lost 30 seats in 2006, they've been doing poorly in special elections and 30 Republicans have declared they are going to retire one would have to have their head buried in the sand to not see the catastrophe ahead.
If things are going really well for the Democrats they can have a supermajority in the house, a filibuster proof Senate, and President Obama. With that combination they can ram their undemocratic, socialist agenda down our throats for the next 30 years, and by the time the people get sick of the Democrats it will be too late.
That's a worst case scenario, but it doesn't take much of a stretch to get there. McCain can still win, but it is going to be a close race. And with the congressional prospects for the Republicans looking absolutely dismal we need a Republican commander in chief more than ever. Not only would a Democratic monopoly on the federal government raise taxes through the roof, declare war on traditional values and force their radical agenda on the rest of the nation, they would- worst of all- be absolutely inept at fighting the war on terrorism. That's because they won't fight it at all. Many on the left have ignored the war from the beginning and think our going to war with Islamofascists was a big overreaction.
Let's see what we have to look forward to with a Democratic congress. They will feel emboldened, and no matter who is in the White House, amnesty will become a reality with millions of illegal immigrants being pardoned and millions more invited in. We can forget about increasing our oil supply, and thus lowering the price of oil, by drilling off the coast or in Alaska. No, the envrionmental lobby will have an absolute stranglehold on Congress. We can also look forward to gay marriage being legalized(I'm sure Polygamy won't be far behind that) oh, and of course, we can look forward to the terrorists going on the offensive against us, after all we know how well the last Democratic government fought them. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
With all that in mind, and the inevitable pounding the GOP is going to take, it is more important than ever to make sure the Presidency stays in the hands of the Republicans, it's the only chance America has to stop the more extreme measures the Democrats will try to get through.
