All About Leaders and Followers
June 28, 2008 10:00 AM EST

Houston's best unknown asset, faith forged from tested patience. As there can be no leaders without followers, there can be no successful leaders without loyal followers. During the Texas Revolution, both followers and enemies called Houston poltroon. When the time for patience had ended, General Sam had two messages, one for his troops and one for his enemies. Sam's first message to his followers, I ordered my scouts to burn all bridges. No enemy reinforcements come in, and no Texans retreat. Remember the Alamo. Casualty reports from the eighteen minute battle sent Houston's enemies the second message. Six hundred plus enemy killed, two hundred plus enemy wounded, and seven hundred thirty two enemy captured. Out numbered by more than two to one, Republic of Texas casualties totaled two killed and twenty-three wounded.A "home work" assignment if you choose, develop a list of great leaders who were not supported by loyal followers. The next question, seems why do people become followers? The most obvious answers are: greed, vanity, ignorance, shared principles, and common security concerns like life, liberty, and property.Examples of "volunteer" followers include the following groups. First, Democrat Party followers motivated for greed of public sector subsidies, public sector jobs, and "the world owes me special privileges based on gender, ethnic background, race, or other special interest causes like Greenism.Next moderate internationalist Republicans motivated by greed of unethical capitalism even if their actions threaten national security by destroying America's domestic manufacturing base.Three, conservatives are most principled of America's followers. The problem is that principled people are harder for leaders to unite into single cohesive units. Consider leadership demands of uniting the following principled groups: Evangelicals, Baptists, and Presbyterians as cohesive Protestants; Catholics, Protestants, and Independents as cohesive Christians; or Jews, Christians, and Mormons as cohesive citizens of faith. The leader might find another way to unite these diverse principled groups; perhaps using the conservative issue of mutual security for their lives, liberties, and properties. Potential option, for principled leaders without followers tend to end up as martyrs. Seems that followers do not follow leaders prone to compromise, and leaders do not recruit followers not known for staying loyal.Followers are not usually faithful to leaders known for being fair. Fair by definition regardless of what compassionate moderate conservatives and some media sources preach, describes "superficial uncritical judgment". Consequences of tolerating fair or meant well actions can best be illustrated with a list of any fool's accomplishments. Examples: successes of America's War on Poverty, evolving lower standards of America's public education system which one might argue is producing citizens too stupid to manage their constitutional republic.
Most citizens of principle not principal know that seeking popularity to feed one's insatiable vanities with compromises does create good leaders. What if the following had chosen popularity and compromised their principles: Moses was not popular with Egyptians, Socrates was not popular with Greeks, Jesus was not popular with Romans, Joan of Arc and Luther were not popular with religious leaders, America's founding Fathers were not popular with British, and Texas Revolutionaries were not popular with Mexicans. That should be enough examples of people who chose not to compromise their principles and made the world a better place by not trading their integrity for popularity. Being popular is not synonymous with being right or moral behavior; doubt this observation, tell your teenage daughter it is alright to do whatever it takes to be "most popular" at school.America's conservatives can solve their quest for their next great leaders by offering their next great leaders dedicated loyal followers. Criteria used by dedicated loyal conservative leaders to select their followers can start by eliminating obvious personalities like Brutus; Judas; Benedict Arnold; Rose of Alamo fame; Liberal Democrats trading America's liberties and properties for Marxist-fascist Greenism; porous border supporters trading America's national security for greed, ignorance, and ethnic prejudices; moderate internationalist Republicans (moderate used as a verb equals compromise) trading national security for greed and vanity; citizens ignoring their oaths to uphold, protect, and defend America's Constitution; and conservatives supporting Chamberlain McCain when they fully understand that voting for lesser of two evils is still voting for premeditated evil.A more positive check list for 2008 Republican Presidential candidate might include these standards. 1) A proven experienced leader who has commanded citizens in combat and knows that the only thing worse than going to war is losing a war. 2) Leader who knows the difference between allies, enemies, enemy collaborators, and enemy sympathizers. 3) Leader to honors their oath to uphold, protect, and defend America's constitution. 4) Leader who believes and acts on those beliefs of loyalty to America's traditions, values, and principles. 5) Leader dedicated to American traditional family values. 6) Leader who puts personal honor, integrity, and duty to Country above greed and vanity.
One of America's last refuges for doing what is best for America could be 2008 Republican Presidential Convention delegates politely sending Chamberlain McCain home and selecting a better for America leader. When the choice is Democratic Party Marxist-fascist Greenism or Republican Moderates Greenism light, America's voters in tough economic times will vote for more public subsidies and less Constitutional integrity.Republican internationalist moderates are like the German business leaders in late 1920's and early 1930's who compromised with Hitler because they felt they could keep Hitler in line. Republican moderates who feel they can keep Democrat Greenists in line with compromises will eventually learn how Chamberlain McCain earned the name Chamberlain. The nauseating truth is that not enough conservatives have yet lost enough of their lives, liberties, and properties; to become enough dedicated loyal followers the conservative leader conservatives are looking for will need for success. Now you have a concept of faith tested patience. Life is not fair since life often only gives people one opportunity do what is right. Finally, constitutions are like high ground, takes fewer casualties to hang on too then take back. Perhaps conservatives seeking their new leader, should start becoming citizens worth leading.
