There is not a day goes by that I do not hear something negative about our president and his leadership. It seems that everything he does is criticized to no end for reasons not quite understood to most conservatives.
He is talked about like a dog on judicial nominations, blasted for his pro-life stance, condemned for his policy on same-sex marriage and battered and deep fried for his position on foreign policy.
I first want to go back to the 2004 Presidential election and look at some things that made him win a second term. The first thing is that he is a war time president which makes him a difficult opponent to beat. Not only that, but he had the votes of gun-rights groups, pro-life groups, and what is referred to as the values voters or simply evangelical Christians who made up an estimated 40 % of the vote.
Both democrats who are very liberal and groups like Michael Moore's Moveon.Org have blasted this president for everything under the sun. Don't get me wrong, when I call Democrats liberal, because some are conservative and there are some very liberal Republicans too. The mainstream biased media tried to influence the election to the best of their ability but thanks to talk radio and the internet, almost every misleading thing thrown out to the public by the media was crushed in hours or days. Not only did they send out personal propaganda, but refused to report some things entirely. Did you know that during the debates between President Bush and presidential nominees John Kerry that Christians were outside the building praying for the president? You won't find that on CBS and NBC! No, I had to rely on internet and radio to get facts that were accurate.
Another thing that really influenced voters to go to the polls was the same-sex marriage vote on the ballots of eleven states. values voters as they are called turned out to make sure that they had a voice in this as well as picking a president that would nominate judges who would judge by the law that is already made and not legislate from the bench. All of these states that voted to add an amendment to the state constitution passed. In Mississippi the outcome was 86% voted to ban same-sex marriage in the state. That was amazing!
When same-sex marriage was voted to be banned in every state that it appeared in, what does that say? It says that the PEOPLE do NOT want same-sex marriage. I know some do, but the majority does not. It is not just Christians who want it like this. Muslims, Hindus, Jews, and others also want this. Not only do they want to ban same-sex marriage but are consistently pro-life and it is very hard for someone to win presidential votes in the Bible Belt if they are not pro-life and pro-family.
As far as the war in Iraq goes, our president has taken a beating from opposing groups claiming that the war was not right. We went to war based on assumptions and some intelligence that Saddam Hussein had biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction that he could and probably would sell to Bin Laden or whoever wanted them. We have not found any weapons of these sorts, but that does not mean they can't someday surface. We know that he had them years ago because he USED them. We are just now finding planes that he had buried in the desert in the first gulf war, so what says he could not have buried his weapons in the desert? I even heard on a talk radio show ( again ) that eighteen wheeler trucks were spotted ( hundreds of them ) crossing the border in Syria weeks before our troops arrived. Could he not have sent his weapons to Syria?
Right now Iraq is a somewhat free nation. The media always claims that insurgents are making it difficult for our troops but there are no insurgents. An insurgent in someone from the home country who takes up arms and fights a foreign invading army. What we have here is fighters coming from Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and who knows where else! They are TERRORISTS not insurgents. They would cut off your head if they had the chance and people on the left want to protect them at Gitmo. These people who are at Gitmo are the most dangerous in the world. If they had the chance at having a nuclear bomb, they would surely use it even if it meant destroying the whole world. They do not care for human life - especially American life so why let them go and why protect them? It is us that need protection, not them!
More votes came, as I mentioned earlier, from gun rights groups that knew that someone like John Kerry would keep honest hard working and decent Americans from owning a firearm which is the right given to us by the Second Amendment. We do not need a leader who looks at influences from the UN and EU on how we should run our laws concerning religion, guns, abortion, and gay rights.
Right now, our president is hated. That's right. There is a bitter hatred of our leader and it's not because he is Republican or conservative. He is hated because of his open faith in Jesus Christ and the fact that he stands up for what is right and refuses to back down. People across America admire him for his resolve under pressure. He has fulfilled campaign promises to ban partial birth abortion, stood strong on international terrorism, and has nominated true conservatives to the supreme court just as he said he would. He is hated for doing what he said and standing firm against opposition.
The one promise he has yet to fulfill and I hope it comes soon is the Federal Marriage Amendment to ban same-sex marriage. He has mentioned it several times but has not been voted on or introduced yet. We really need this amendment now! The reason we need it is this: John Kerry stated that we need to let individual states decide on this amendment and not make it federal. What a clever idea! This is clever on the part of liberals because they know that it will not work. If a same-sex marriage ban is passed in a particular state, a federal judge will just strike it down anyway and we will get nowhere. With a federal marriage amendment, we can eliminate a judge from touching it.
Yes President Bush is persecuted and it will get worse before it gets better. It is said that he divided the nation, but the nation has been divided for some time. He has just brought to our attention why it is divided! Our nation will remain divided as long as there are controversial issues that "value voters" will always put first when it comes to electing a leader. Right now, my personal thoughts are that we have a mighty fine leader who is willing to stand up to the pressure under overwhelming odds. We need more men like him for the sake of liberty and true freedom in a nation who is truly blessed by the hand of God.
WE ARE ONE NATION UNDER GOD!
