I suppose that we all know that a foundation with a crack in it is no good for the structure that it holds up and therefore has to be repaired or replaced. I think that today the foundation of the church in America has a huge crack in it.
The crack gets bigger day by day as we just sit back and watch it hoping that someone will come along and fix it.
The crack began many years ago and perhaps went unnoticed until recently. At one time the church stood strong and stood for truth and a definite belief for something and stood up for the word of God, but today that is not the case. America itself has a pretty big foundation to repair.
The morals and values in America has declined to an all time low. Look at the television shows today compared with older ones of yesterday. If you turn on your tube today, you'll see violence and hear profanity as if it were o.k. and normal. Maybe it is now, but at one time there was a certain air of respect about what went out over the airwaves. What happened to the good decent shows like Andy Griffith, Green Acres, The Cosby Show, and so many other family centered funny shows? A person cannot turn on a comedy show now without hearing something about sex at some point during that show. It's ridiculous what we have to put up with these days. Maybe that's why my dad refers to it as " the idiot box ".
Respect for others has gone away for good it seems. No one says "mam" and "sir" anymore. Children disrespect the teachers because we let the teachers lose authority of the class when we took away discipline. If a child is not taught to respect and disciplined them what can you expect but trouble?
The church foundation today is cracking because mainly the church has been split into two sections. The conservative section that wants to preserve what is right and true and taught in the Bible and the Liberal side who wants tolerance of sinful lifestyles to be present in the house of God which is an atrocity. The very idea of worshipping in church is to repent of those lifestyles and turn from them, not tolerate them and encourage further sin.
Almost every denomination is splitting over the same-sex marriage issue and I cannot see why. The Bible plainly explains homosexuality and sexual purity in words that small children could understand. Why can't grown up, educated adults understand something so simple? It is the liberal side who has hit the foundation of the church in America with the hammer of deception and illusion. When their giant hammer came slamming down onto the foundation of the beliefs of God's people, it left a crack that only repentance and prayer can heal.
It is urgent now that we fix our foundation before we lose the whole structure. We cannot afford to allow tolerance of sinful lifestyles and the endless corruption of our most dearly held moral values and beliefs into the house of God. We have to fight back and fight hard. Not with physical weapons, but with spiritual weapons including prayer and thanksgiving to our Creator and Lord. Right now the church is split and it is up to the conservative traditional thinking Christians who preach absolute truth in a world of moral relativism to do the dirty work and keep our church free from the bondage of openly sinful leaders who refuse to repent and even more, refuse to acknowledge their lifestyle as being wrong and sinful.
Yes, our foundational crack is getting bigger, but when we take a stand for the truth of God's word and refuse to back down regardless of persecution, it will be then that we start to repair that crack. Only when Jesus returns, though, will the foundation be fully restored and I personally look forward to that restoration that is perhaps nearer than we think.
