Today an elderly man was denied entry to a Schwarzenegger rally in San Diego, and I was both offended and filled with pity for him. I have never felt so bad for an elderly person and his aging wife, who was carefully following behind him.
I can still see the old man with his gut hanging out and with a dorky smile on his face looking half at the cameras and half at the Schwarzenegger staffer who denied him entry to the rally. Sure the old man was a protester and not invited, but what was he going to do, run pass security? That would have been both funny and hard to watch. Even if he yelled out it would have been with the voice of an old liberal and easily mistaken for a cat that had been stepped on.
This old man, who I will not name out of respect for the elderly, no doubt thinks of himself as a star. In 1959 he received his start on the much acclaimed "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis"; and then went on to big screen in classics like "Ishtar", "Shampoo" and "Reds". His sister, Shirley MacLaine, has been described as a Metaphysical Time Traveler, and no doubt a constant embarrassment to this old Gus who his friends call "Pro", for no apparent reason. I have seen "Pro's" wife, Annette Bening, many times and she boldly describes herself as an actress. After-all she did star in the movies "Mars Attack" and "What Planet are you From?"
Annette Bening always makes me laugh, especially when she is trying to look serious, which is hard to do for an airhead. Today she stared over her husband’s shoulder all the time looking into the camera, like some silent era star hoping to be noticed. Liberals and especially aging liberal movie "stars" love a good protest, as there are always cameras at these events in abundance.
Frankly, I think Schwarzenegger staffers should have let Annette Bening and her husband in to hear the speech by Schwarzenegger so that he could have addressed, in his speech, the dangers of unchecked liberalism and then pointed at this couple as example of what can happen to you once you start messing around with liberalism. Of course young attendees may have found Bening and her husband too shocking to look at, but that shock could have kept those young people away from liberalism for a lifetime.
