Most people don't pay much attention to Al-Qaida anymore. There are no more video taped hate filled rants coming from a smug looking Usama Bin Laden, no more safe haven in Afghanistan, no more being the most feared terrorist on Earth.(that now belongs to Zarqawi, but more about him later.)
UBL is probably huddled in a cave someplace eating roasted rat pining for the good ol' days when he had the world by the throat.
But Al-Qaida does still exist. Sure it can't fly planes into skyscrapers anymore, and bring about the kind of destruction that it did on 9-11, although they undoubtedly want to. Instead their new calling card is killing Muslims. And all this time I thought that was what we were guilty of. No, instead of attacking us, (although I'm sure they will manage to hit us again one day) they settle for hitting hotels, restaurants, and any other soft target that they can find. Hitting Bali, now Amman. Apparently Al-Qaida missed the lesson on not murdering the people you want to rally to your cause.
The people of the region are starting to turn against the turbaned imbecile and his cronies. Oh sure, they have recruits but for how much longer. We already know that they aren't welcome in Iraq, they can now scratch Jordan of their list. After all they have been trying to take down that kingdom for sometime. After all King Abdullah is a moderate ruler trying to reform his country. Not exactly a muslim who endears himself to extremists. Zarqawi, in his twisted little brain, probably believed that they could score brownie points witht the people of Jordan by blowing up hotels and killing people at wedding parties.
But these type of attacks show what kind of people that we are fighting, and rightly so. They are murderers who want some pan islamic caliphate to enslave the world and drag it kicking and screaming back into the 7th century, and then have the gall to be mystified by the fact that most people don't want to go with them. With brains like this one wonders how long it will be before they lash out at Syria? After all Bashar Al- Assad is a bigger secularist than king Abdullah.
Everytime they blow something up, and kill people, it should serve as a reminder as to why we're over there fighting. We're winning, if we weren't they wouldn't be hitting hotels they would be hitting us. We are right to be fighting them and we are on the right track. The muslims are pulling back the welcome mat for these monsters. That's definetly a good sign for the middle east.
