Barbarians are rioting in France. The barbarians are back. Again. Barbarians, called Gauls, were conquered by the Romans (Julius Caesar, 58-51 B.C.) For the next 450 years France was civilized and the Roman Army kept the Barbarians on the right side of the Rhine River.

Then, the western Latin Roman Civilization collapsed. The eastern Byzantine Roman Civilization (Orthodox Christians) lasted another 1,000 years until Turkish barbarians destroyed them. The pressure of barbarian invasions continued in France with the Vikings from the North and the Muslims pushing up from Spain. Charles Martel defeated the Muslims at Tours in 723 A.D. and saved France for Western Civilization.

Now, people the MSM call ‘youths’, ‘immigrants’, and ‘disadvantaged and discriminated’ are rioting across France. It’s this generation’s Muslim barbarians from the Islamic Civilization. Barbarian is a relevant term for a culture that hasn’t progressed as much as its neighbor and covets the neighbor’s things - which it can’t produce. William McNeill’s epic, “The Rise of the West”, describes the early barbarian invasions of nomadic raiders on the first Middle Eastern river civilizations of Mesopotamia and Egypt around 3000 B.C. The same principles apply across the ages.

The Romans barbarians who conquered Greek Civilization were about 200 years behind their victims. Today’s Muslim barbarians are about 800 years behind Western Civilization. History is ironic, because in 1000 A.D. the Christian Western Civilization was full of barbarians who were 200 years behind the Muslims.

Barbarian invasions from Asia invaded four of the world’s great civilizations – the West (Roman Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox), Muslim Middle East, Hindu India, and Confucian, Taoist China – for over 1200 years. Sometimes the invaders were Pagan and sometimes they were Muslim. The grass highway from Budapest to Outer Mongolia was the main axis of advance. Heavily armed cavalry, Persian cataphracts and Christian Knights, were developed to stop the hordes. Finally, guns in the hands of peasants prevailed over fierce light cavalry. The expanding Russian, Chinese, and British Empires conquered the barbarians except for a place called Afghanistan.

The barbarians were assimilated and overthrown by the civilizations within a few generations, except for the occasional civilized generation which succumbed. These are the choices for the French, the Europeans, and Americans today.

France will have a hard time with assimilation. French Liberal Human Secularism, an empty materialist form of paganism, and Socialism won’t assimilate Muslim immigrants. In fact, the French hate the Christian Evangelical missionaries proselytizing the Muslims more than they fear the Muslims.

France might suppress the Muslims. But, expulsion and suppression would take a provocation and will that are both absent in Europe.

France may succumb to population explosion of Muslims. The Muslims will vote themselves into a final conquest of France. The barbarians can win.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote that the task of every generation was to ‘civilize’ a new generation of barbarians. That’s the first task in France. The fight, now, isn’t an Islamist terrorist or a broader Islamic revolt. Of course, the Algerian War (1954-1962) didn’t start that way either. Americans need to know that Algeria was to France as Hawaii is to the U.S. “L’Algerie c’est la France.” But, as the revolution matured, its Muslim identity grew. Like the 50 year Palestinian resistance that has pushed Palestinian Christians to the side and exile. So, it’ll likely go in France.

I lived in France as an Army brat 1961-63. I remember when the resistance to surrendering Algeria, the ‘OAS’, blew up a building on our block and another a block away one weekend. The windows shook but didn’t break. The gray smoke was ominous but no one was killed. I just walked past the soldiers in the street and caught my Army bus to school. But, I remember the concern that full civil war would erupt. Perhaps, that French civil war will mature in a different way in future desperate days.

America will have the same problem if we allow more immigration from the countries that produce terrorists - the barbaric Muslim countries.

America doesn’t have a barbarian problem with the Hispanic invasion. Latin America is a branch of Western Civilization. Poor Hispanic immigrants come from a Western culture of Oligarchy, not barbarism, unless they’re from the deepest jungle, Neolithic Indian tribes. Furthermore, every generation of American immigrants has to pay the ‘blood tax’ to fight for the U.S.A. Hispanic immigrants are leading in the bleeding to be fully American. The issue with our immigrant invasion is how many can be assimilated and how many create an economic burden.
