The Tibetan Antelope was a Sick Choice for the 2008 Olympics
November 14, 2005 12:03 AM EST

In 1949 one of the worlds most corrupt and murderous regimes, the People's Republic of China violently conquered and overthrew the isolated and deeply religious and peaceful people of Tibet. From then to now millions of Tibetans have been killed or exiled from their homes.

Initially responsible for these murders was the homicidal maniac Mao Tse-Tung, who is perhaps better known as Chairman Mao. Up until his death in 1976, this rabbit dog may have caused the murders and deaths through starvation of between 14 million to 20 million people, and one defector from Communist China has argued the true number is closer to 50 million people across China and Tibet. His successors are murderous as well, just not as skillful as Mao or perhaps not as blood thirsty.

At the same time the Communist Chinese have murdered and tortured the peaceful people of Tibet many of their occupying soldiers have also killed the Pantholops hodgsonii or Tibetan Antelope, which is its common name. In fact by 2008, the number of Tibetan Antelope in the wild may only be about 15,000, down from today's greatly diminished population of 75,000.

As a lifelong conservationist and conservative I have been concerned both with the plight of the Tibetan people and Tibetan Antelope for years, which is why I was disgusted when I heard that China was going to use the Tibetan Antelope as its Mascot in the 2008 Olympics. The Olympics organization should ask the Communist Government to pick a new mascot, and if they fail to listen, tell them to pick a new mascot or loose the Olympics in 2008
