When it comes to the debate on global climate change (I find it interesting to note that after some of the coldest and nastiest winters in years they're no longer calling it "global warming") it is intellectually dishonest to deny that there is LEGITIMATE difference of opinion. ( Read Article )

After hearing Bill O'Reilly speak at an event last Friday in St Louis, I went back and reviewed video of O'Reilly's exchange with Greta about Shawn Hornbeck. I wanted to get it straight from the horse's mouth, and not rely on my own memory and certainly not depend on the St Louis Post dispatch for an( Read Article )

In recent days we have seen a swirling dust storm of political posturing, parrying and thrusting over the Foley affair (no pun intended). All that dirt in the air is going to make both parties pretty muddy come the first drizzle of reality.( Read Article )

Good news coming out of Iraq is bad news for the Left, and the Mainstream Media is getting desperate! Their standby "go to" story for beating up on the President – Iraq – is turning a corner. The President's approval numbers are rebounding.( Read Article )

Though I have written before with suggestions for a multifaceted plan to address the most pressing aspects of the illegal immigration problem, it would be simplistic and short-sighted to believe that a package of 5 or 6 macro-view actions would adequately unravel the tangled ball of twine that 40 years of winking and nodding at the problem has begotten. What we have is a morass.( Read Article )

There is no denying the pain felt at the pump as gas prices flirt with the $3.00 a Gallon mark. The life blood of this nation IS oil, whether we like or acknowledge it or not. So when gas prices rise there is a predictable rush to blame someone. Bill O'Reilly has been a crusader in the effort to blame the oil companies for "gouging". But is he right? Democrats, smelling blood in the water, are ready to levy new punitive and confiscatory taxes on the oil companies. Have they considered the "Law of Unintended Consequences'? A "Windfall Profit Tax" to punish the oil companies for making a profit? Let's look a bit closer.( Read Article )

The California Coalition for Immigration Reform has compiled some interesting quotes from the open-borders crowd. See if you find these statements consistent with the image of the "hard working honest 'undocumented citizens' coming to the US to escape poverty and make a living" that their PR machine would have us believe.( Read Article )

With his approval ratings in a nosedive, and lawmakers of his own party scrambling to distance themselves from him, it is time for President Bush to take a page from his predecessor and "reinvent" himself. Given the recent White House Shuffle, perhaps this process may be the opportunity for a new beginning.( Read Article )

As if it wasn't intuitively obvious, recent polls are unanimous in their confirmation that illegal immigration is among the top concerns of the American populace. There is overwhelming support for securing the borders with a wall, a beefed up border patrol, and the military. Americans support the curtailing of social benefits for illegals, elimination of "anchor baby" citizenship etc. It seems like real action to stem the tide of illegal immigration would be a political no-brainer.( Read Article )

Ok, so a tape has surfaced on pre-Katrina discussions between FEMA and the President. Sure, like many others my initial reaction to word of the Dubai Ports World deal was a jaw-dropping, head-scratching "What the F---?" But I have learned that things are rarely what they appear at first blush – and if Schumer and Hillary are vocally against something that my first instinct is to oppose… there's likely to be much more to the story. Therefore, while I have written extensively on Bush's MISHANDLING of the POLITICS of the deal (there can be no debating that the Bush Administration is completely tone-deaf and color-blind when it comes to foresight, anticipation of or handling of Public Opinion)… I had not taken a position in print on the deal itself before now, as I wanted first to obtain some facts and details.( Read Article )

I have received some interesting responses to recent articles, suggesting that Republicans should close ranks and lock arms in unity behind the Administration and Republican legislators. The responses implied that Republicans are too often guilty of "eating their own". The complaint was made that Conservatives are being too hard on President Bush, decrying that they are hesitant to give him their full trust and loyalty.( Read Article )

In my role as a forum moderator, I see a lot of commentary go by from both the rancorous and the insightful on both sides of the political spectrum. A recent posting caught my interest. It was posted by a person I would generally classify as a left of center – but a rational, reasonable, thoughtful, fairminded and intelligent individual. I thought the posting was worthy of discussion in a broader arena than just the forum in which it originally appeared. See if you agree:( Read Article )

In the wake of the revelations that the Bush Administration is supporting the sale of port facilities in 6 of our US Port Cities to interests in Dubai, there is an unusual phenomenon taking place. As intriguing and infrequent as a solar eclipse… an unlikely meeting of the minds is taking place across the political spectrum as ideologues as divergent as Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and rightwing radio radical Michael Savage find common ground in their opposition to the "PortGate" sale.( Read Article )
