Jim Bray

TechnoFILE

Jim Bray, a lifelong "car and gadget fan," has been writing about technology since the mid-1980's. In 1997, his TechnoFile web magazine (www.technofile.com) was awarded the "Consumer's Choice" award for outstanding consumer information by the Consumer Resource Network.

Jim also writes for Canada Free Press, The Post Chronicle, Mochila Syndicate and C.E. Biz magazine. He has written regular columns for Canada's largest chain of daily newspapers as well as for magazines such as Alberta Venture, Video News and Reviews, Electronic Products and Technology and many more. He does regular, nationally-broadcast commentaries for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and has written and hosted television programs.

His first novel "Ransom for the Stars: the Last Supra" is widely available.

Jim is an affiliate with the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada and his work has also been distributed by Creators Syndicate.

Jim's writing is popular not only because of his entertaining and down to earth style, but because he doesn't talk down to his audience. "People looking for a DVD player don't care how a laser works," says Jim. "They want to know if the picture's good, how it sounds, if it's easy to use, if it works as advertised."

Before writing about technology Jim was co-owner of a retail chain that helped pioneer the video rental store concept and he also spent several years in mainstream audio/video and computer retail.

Jim also has many years experience in radio and teaches writing courses at his local community college.

Jim and his wife Marianne have been married since 1973 and they have two grown sons.
